POSITION PURPOSE:

Operate the on-air studio console in a manner that assures only technically excellent and flawlessly timed content is broadcast on the KSL NewsRadio airwaves. Assist in producing talk shows that discuss the issues of the day, relatable and compelling news, and matters important to the community.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Full focus and ownership of shift on-air console operations including: maintaining accurate transmitter and program logs, airing commercials per program logs, airing emergency alerts, recording satellite feeds, ensuring transmitter is operating according to FCC parameters, ensuring all audio elements are problem free before air, and updating discrepancy reports with all occurrences that depart from the program log or quality goals set by station management

  • Check studio equipment for proper functioning prior to going on-air, reporting technical problems and equipment malfunctions

  • Clearly and succinctly communicate regularly with hosts, anchors and producers on upcoming show elements. Monitor clock and provide cues to talent to ensure program continuity

  • Coordinate the appropriate mix of music and sound for assigned shows, and ensure that levels are mixed properly

  • Cross-train and maintain working knowledge of all board operator shifts; fill in for team mates as needed

  • Cut audio from weekday talk shows and upload as multiple podcasts that have engaging titles and SEO-heavy descriptions

  • Assist talk show producers in creating varied and unique content for posting to show's social media accounts

  • Screen phone calls as needed

  • Work with producers to create/edit "best of" library for assigned shows

  • Project an appropriate professional appearance and demeanor; maintain positive and cooperative rapport with staff, management and clients

  • Management will assign responsibilities on a regular and/or rotating basis depending upon need and proven capabilities and the need to provide expertise for the future

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • College degree in communications, journalism, or other relevant field OR two years relevant experience

  • At least 1 year of experience running an audio board in a live broadcast setting. Broadcasting internship and college broadcasting

Location:Temple Square, Downtown, SLC, UT Schedule: The following shift times are currently available * Monday - Friday 9:00pm-1:00am - must be willing to work rotating weekends (every 7th Saturday), and events and holidays as scheduled. Grave Shift Compensation: $13/hr + $1.00/hr Grave Shift Differential Responsibilities * Working knowledge of subject matter; typically two years related work experience preferred * Experience with project work or executive cleaning preferred * Must certify in the use of any needed equipment including sweepers, buffers, lifts, carpet cleaning machinery, high rise power washers, etc. * Ability to understand basic instructions, complete basic tasks, and handle basic issues and problems * Ability to independently lift and position objects weighing as much as 50 pounds as well as ability to team lift and position objects weighing as much as 100 pounds on an occasional basis. * Ability to stand, walk, kneel, squat, stoop, push, pull, twist, bend, and perform repetitive movements for extended periods of time. * Ability to work from ladders, scaffolds, and mechanical lifts for extended periods of time. * May be required to work outside during all seasons, temperatures, and types of weather * Ability to work in a professional manner with others as well as alone without constant supervision. Must have a positive attitude with the ability to work as a team. * Ability to understand English for general communication, video training, building security, and safety. * Also, must be capable of understanding instructions both verbally and in writing and able to ask clarifying questions as needed. * A valid driver's license is required * Must comply with all regulations associated with the handling of chemicals Qualifications Part-Time Projects Custodian: Purpose is to keep assigned buildings in clean, sanitized, and orderly condition. Typical duties may include: * Clean offices, restrooms, public areas, etc. as instructed including fixtures such as sinks, toilets, tubs, showers, mirrors, air vents, furniture, equipment, window sills, walls, etc. * Operate mechanized cleaning equipment, such as vacuums, polishers, buffers, large scrubbers and sweepers, power washers, and extraction equipment, etc. * Operate balers, shredders, aerial lifts, and forklifts * Window and building exterior cleaning possibly including fountains * Clean carpets, rugs, upholstery and drapes * Sanitize areas, furnishings, or fixtures as instructed * Wet or damp mop floors * Dust or polish furnishings, light fixtures, window sills, wood paneling, etc. * Dispose of trash, waste, and other materials * Perform emergency cleanups including floods, bodily fluids, spills, etc. * Restock supplies * Move furniture, supplies, and miscellaneous equipment * Remove leaves or snow * On call responsibilities may be required * May be assigned to executive VIP responsibilities * Report safety or security issues and needed repairs * Perform other duties and attend meetings as assigned Complexity – Moderately complex-level work.
