SUMMARY: This position will be responsible for providing support to district level staff, individuals with behavioral challenges, and their families by coordinating and providing services in Applied Behavior Analysis, function analyses and assessment, behavior acquisition and reduction procedures as well as helping develop adaptive life skills in children. The BCBA will also provide professional training to district level staff and instructional assistants in the use of appropriate behavior intervention techniques. The BCBA will be a part of a regional mobile response team in support of school districts with behaviorally challenging students.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Collaborate with a variety of groups and individuals (e.g. principals, teachers, ESD staff, program directors, other stakeholders, etc.) for the purpose of research, development, and deployment of appropriate behavioral strategies and services for challenging students.

  • Participate and collaborate with community partners and organizations for the purpose of supporting the short- and long-term mission and vision of ESD 123.

  • Prepare a variety of materials (e.g. evaluations, training materials, minutes, memos, pre/post evaluations, activity logs, correspondence, etc.) for the purpose of providing written documentation, conveying information, and complying with ESD/State guidelines.

  • Provide consultation and direct supervision of the registered behavior technicians and other program staff in the region for the purpose of meeting program requirements for staffing, training, documentation, and distribution of resources.

  • Provide training to teachers and administrators (e.g. on best practices, learning strategies, school structure, etc.) for the purpose of improving student success through the implementation of comprehensive behavioral health programs and student plans.

  • Respond to inquiries (e.g. from teachers, principals, administrators, students, etc.) for the purpose of providing information and/or recommendations.

  • Support school personnel for the purpose of assisting them in the development and deployment of new behavioral programs and services in the schools.

  • Assist in the recruitment and training of registered behavior technicians for placement in regional school districts.

  • Follow all applicable Board policies and procedures.

  • Maintains confidentiality.

Supervisory:

Provide future oversight and supervision of newly hired behavioral staff.

  • Related duties as required are duties that may not be specifically listed in the Position Description but are within the general occupational series and responsibility level typically associated with the employee's classification of work.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Masters in Psychology, Behavior Analysis, Developmental Psychology, Special Education or other related field.

  • Board Certified Behavior Analyst certificate or the ability to obtain within one year of hire.

  • Experience analyzing, defining, measuring, assessing, characterizing, and ultimately modifying behavior in children ages 0-21 years of age.

  • Ability to lead teams through the analysis of behaviors and development of Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) or therapy programs for children with 504 plans, IEPs, IFSPs, or other children in need of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports.

  • Proven experience screening, assessing, designing treatment programs, providing direct therapy and consulting with school staff, parents and outside agencies as appropriate.

  • WSP/ FBI background clearance required.

  • Valid Driver's License and Car Insurance BCBA license or ability to obtain BCBA license.

  • Ability to establish rapport and work constructively with staff, students, parents, and community members.

  • Ability to creatively solve problems and work through the conflict resolution process.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, in oral and written form.

  • Ability to maintain knowledge of best practices and laws governing behavioral supports for students with disabilities.

  • Knowledge of system-based approaches to implementing educational initiatives, school discipline practices, targeted and individual behavior supports, data collection and analysis, basic principles of behavioral change.

  • Experience evaluating and writing behavior plans for students with behavior difficulties including students with autism and other disabilities.

  • Ability to work well with school and district level leadership teams to provide school improvement decision-making and support.

  • Ability to provide effective professional development for adult learners to understand, use and share data related to practices and progress monitoring.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Work is performed primarily in an office environment; however, travel is required to local school districts and program sites, and for workshops, committee representation and conferences at local, regional, and state level. Sitting for extended periods of time may be required. Lifts and carries a maximum of 35 pounds. Adequate manual and finger dexterity, hearing, speech, and vision are necessary to perform the essential functions of this position.
