Job Summary
The Division of Workforce Partnerships is looking for instructors to teach non-credit, BLS CPR, HeartSaver AED and First Aid Training courses part-time. Instructors work on a part-time basis to teach BLS courses (CPR/AED and First Aid training) under the American Heart Association curriculum.
Responsible for providing instruction in Basic Life Support (BLS) including CPR, AED and First Aid training for all health programs, high school programs, and the community at large on an as needed basis. Course content will include theoretical and hands-on training related to BLS CPR. Instructors may teach classes on campus or at clients' facilities, independently or with a co-instructor, based on the size of the class.
This position is responsible for providing high quality, superior instruction, communicating expectations and performance evaluation to course attendees, providing necessary reports and managing/cleaning equipment. Instructors are responsible for facilitating video presentations, instructor lectures, skills demonstrations, testing students, answering questions, and completing post-course rosters/paperwork.
Position may require traveling.
Duties and Responsibilities
Teach classes as designed in the assigned specialty area for the American Heart Association when approved and directed.
Facilitate video presentations, instructor lectures, skills demonstrations, testing students, answering questions, and completing post-course rosters/paperwork.
Prepare and submit electronic and hard copy paperwork and training documentation from the course in a timely manner.
Evaluate and communicate Candidate performance and progress throughout course.
Prepare instructional areas, including mannequins, equipment and materials required for the class each day and tear down and prepare equipment for storage following training.
Ensure all materials and equipment borrowed from host site are returned.
Care for the equipment by keeping it clean and in good working order; communicating when equipment or supplies are low in stock.
Attend in-service training, program meetings and other program-related events as needed.
Understand the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and adhere to CCRI's policies and procedures for responding to student requests for accommodations.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
High School Diploma.
Possess current American Heart Association (AHA) Instructor certification and stay current in the AHA curriculum and standards to maintain professional certification.
Have current AHA Provider status in the discipline for the course and be proficient in all the skills of that discipline.
Possess strong soft skills (communication, teamwork, problem solving, organization, resourcefulness, flexibility, conflict management, critical thinking, work ethic, etc.).
Instruct, exemplify, motivate, and advise students in AHA curriculum and skills and assist students in achieving their certification.
Give clear instruction in a safe, clean, and productive learning environment.
Proficient in the use of technology, including Microsoft Office Suite applications (Word and Excel, primarily), email, the internet for instruction and program purposes.
Demonstrate good time management and classroom management skills.
Interact in a positive and professional manner with students, co-workers, and college partners.
Work cooperatively within the college community.
Complete all paperwork, post-course rosters and maintain records as required by CCRI and/or the AHA.
Competencies
One or more-year(s) experience in teaching.
Ability to teach effectively in an adult learning environment.
Certifications in the area of expertise required to teach.
Two years of field experience with an approved certification or licensure in instructional discipline.
