Blind Services Rehabilitation Associate II

Overview

The Division for the Blind and Visually Impaired (DBVI) Blind Services Rehabilitation Associate will provide Independent Living casework duties. These duties include consumer interviews and creation of Independent Living Plans and services. This is a great opportunity to join the DBVI Montpelier team to assist individuals who are blind or visually impaired to meet their independent living and career goals.

Upon receipt of referrals, the Blind Services Rehabilitation Associate conducts interviews with consumers to elicit information required for determination of eligibility and requests medical documentation of disabilities when necessary. The position assists, advises and guides consumers in development of an Independent Living Plan (ILP). Through regular reviews, the position monitors consumer progress toward completion of goals.

Authorizes normal expenditures for training, equipment, or other consumer needs. Maintains detailed case notes on assigned caseload and processes required paperwork to document case openings and closings. Refers consumers to other organizations for needed services. Assists the regional office with administrative duties including a significant amount of bill paying and office organization.

A person in this position cares about helping people meet their goals and has great communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency with productivity software and software for case management are essential. Experience working with people who are blind or visually impaired is preferred.

As of July 14, 2024 the step 1 rate for pay grade 21 will be $23.76 per hour.
