Neurobioogy, Physiology & Behavior (NPB) is a large teaching and research department with the College of Biological Sciences. The department is comprised of thirty-three faculty members (including one at the Center for Mind and Brain and twelve at the Center for Neuroscience), in addition to emeriti faculty, lecturers, specialist, researchers, visiting faculty, postdoctoral scholars, undergraduate and graduate students, and instructional, administrative and research staff.

Job Summary

Under general supervision provide NPB administrative office support. Perform a variety of general administrative functions including data entry, budget reports, reception, mail distribution, pre & post grant administration, receiving, accounts payable, travel and entertainment, instructional & curriculum support, and other related administrative duties. Position is on site on the main UC Davis campus.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Education/Experience:

  • Experience using automated financial and accounting systems.

  • Experience with computers and basic software programs for correspondence, forms, and spreadsheets/databases.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):

  • Mathematical and auditing skills to perform calculations and to review ledgers/invoices, calculate/verify prices, and resolve discrepancies/problems.

  • Writing, editing, and proofreading skills using correct spelling and grammar.

  • Analytical skills to independently review problems, develop creative solutions, and make decisions based on policies.

  • Skill to work independently with minimal supervision and work in a team atmosphere as a team member.

  • Skills to organize work to achieve timely progress on multiple simultaneous projects, distribute effort among projects, meet deadlines, and maintain a high level of productivity.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Education/Experience:

  • Experience working in an academic environment with knowledge of academic philosophies underlying college, university, & major regulations.

  • Experience using personnel databases, student information systems, and pivot tables.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):

  • Analytical, research and administrative skills to obtain, correlate and analyze data and develop statistics from a variety of campus sources; and to retrieve and assemble information for the preparation of reports, schedules, correspondence etc.

  • Skills to maintain accountability, establish audit trails, evaluate systems/procedures, and implement improvements.
