Black Eyed Susans on Long Beach Island in Harvey Cedars, NJ is seeking an experienced full-time Chef de Cuisine/Executive Sous Chef (hourly non-exempt).

Black Eyed Susans is a seasonal small farm-to-table restaurant focused on showcasing the incredible seafood brought into Viking Village in Barnegat Light and the amazing produce and meats grown in New Jersey, Pennsylvania & New York. Our menus reflect the seasonal availability of our local farms, distributors, and fishermen. We use many organic ingredients, sustainably caught fish and seafood, and pasture-raised meats.

The ideal candidate can take initiative and show leadership while at the same time being a great team player. You love food and have a passion for hospitality.

Position:

• Chef de Cuisine/Executive Sous Chef 

Compensation:

• $80-90K salary
• Paid Weekly

Schedule requirements:

• 4-6 day work week
• Night and weekend availability required
• Closed Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Day

Language requirements:

• English

Experience:

• 3+ years of experience in a kitchen management role in an upscale casual restaurant
• Previous upscale/fine dining BOH restaurant experience
• Menu development 
• Food safety knowledge (certification preferred)
• Ordering & receiving, inventory
• P & L management (maintaining food costs, maximizing profitability)
• Staff training and motivation
• Scheduling
• Managing 15-20 people
