I. Position Summary:

The Unit Secretary performs clerical and receptionist duties in accordance with the philosophy, goals and objectives of Rose Medical Center. The Unit Secretary may rotate to other than his/ her assigned department and will perform only those duties for which he/ she has demonstrated competency. Performs these duties in the care of GERIATRIC AND ADULT patient populations.

II. Position Requirements:

A. Licensure/Certification/Registration: None

B. Education: Graduate of Unit Secretary or medical terminology course preferred.

C. Experience: Acute care experience preferred.

Unit Secretary experience preferred. Experience with computers and medical terminology required.

D. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Demonstrates good organizational skills. Knowledge of medical and technical terms to accurately transcribe physician orders and complete requisitions. Displays appropriate judgement and problem solving skills. Communicates positively and professionally with all internal and external customers.

III. Degree of Supervision Required: Under supervision of Registered Nurse.

IV. Orientation Period:

Minimum of two weeks contingent upon experience. Extensive orientation may be required and will be determined by Manager.

Here's what you can expect from being a Medical Telemetry RN with us: * The Registered Nurse demonstrates knowledge and skills in the care of young adult, adult, geriatric, medical, surgical patients. * The delivery of care is based on criteria that is age appropriate and is based on the physical, psychosocial, cultural, safety, and learning needs of the individual patients. * The Registered Nurse may be asked to float to areas other than his/her assigned service area, and will perform only those duties for which he/she has demonstrated competency. * The Registered Nurse performs delegated duties consistent with the scope of practice and functions within the philosophy and overall plan of care at Rose Medical Center. * Perform Lab testing as assigned based on protocol of each test, documenting results and communicating criticals as defined. Complete competency as required. * Follow lab testing safety guidelines, maintenance and QC completion/documentation, and proficiency testing as assigned. * Follow "good lab practice" in testing and initiate corrective action as issues occur with test system or result. * Educational records (diploma or transcript) are mandatory for staff performing non-waived testing. Requirements: Licensure/Certification/Registration: * RN License in the State of Colorado. * Compact license acceptable but must obtain Colorado state license within 90 days of hire. * Current BLS certification through American Heart Association * ACLS Certification (AHA) within 1 year Education: * Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing. BSN is desirable. Experience: * Able to articulate and demonstrate appropriate nursing theory and practice. * Experience requirements are specific to positions and departments as appropriate.
