BioWare is looking for an creative and passionate Systems Designer II with experience in Combat Balance to join our studio in either Austin or Edmonton to work on our newest IP Anthem. This role is responsible for moment to moment tuning of the game, ensuring that the player and monster abilities are equivalent in ways players understand. This role will work closely with the item designers to ensure their assumptions about the player power matches the awesome items in the game world.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with a team of systems designers and design leadership through all stages of development to own and implement systems and gameplay features that improve content and functionality of the game.

  • Set and maintain the gold standard for game systems in a franchise.

  • Collaborate with other key stakeholders to identify and implement the priorities and objectives.

  • Be proactive in communicating progress and resolution of problems

  • Create documentation and prototypes for specific and exploratory game systems.

The ideal Candidate will demonstrate:

  • 5 + years of experience as a game designer working on AAA titles.

  • Familiar with online RPG game mechanics.

  • Comfortable collaborating with groups within art and programming

  • Thorough understanding of scripting and programming concepts with the ability to implement.

Excellent knowledge of RPGs, current technology and tools, design concepts and game balancing.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with team members from different locations and different disciplines.

  • Ability to critique the concepts of play in a group environment

  • Willingness to adapt and iterate designs.

Typical multifamily projects consist of one hundred (100) to five hundred (500) unit complexes and typical scopes of work last from ten (10) months to thirty (30) months. Multifamily performs the following: * Plumbing systems including residential tank type water heater systems but also full commercial style boiler systems. * Typical plumbing piping systems generally consist of PVC, CPVC, or PEX but also include more commercial systems utilizing cast iron, copper, and stainless steel. * HVAC systems typically include small tonnage DX split AC systems, individual vent systems, and fresh air ventilation but also include VRF AC systems, aquatherm heating systems, and commercial water source heat pump systems. * Typical HVAC systems generally consist of fiberglass ductboard and insulated flexible duct systems but can also include commercial sheet metal or spiral duct systems. The role of Mechanical Designer: Prepares and maintains detailed design drawings, schematics or specifications typically using computer-aided design software.
