Overview

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm

Purpose Statement/Position Summary: The Southern California Center for Latino Health's Data and Methods Sub-Core manages the data collection, management, cleaning, and analysis for Center projects.

As part of this team, the Biostatistician will be tasked with data analysis, statistical consulting, and study design support for the Center. The Biostatistician II under the supervision of a faculty, Ph.D level Biostatistician, and in collaboration with faculty investigators and CHLA research staff, performs statistical analysis and other tasks relevant to a biostatisticians role in support of qualitative and quantitative scientific research and evaluation projects. The Biostatistician II has post-graduation work experience as a statistician in an academic research environment, and will be able to work semiindependently, under the supervision of a Ph.D. Level Statistician.

Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience: 1+ year experience as a statistician in an academic research environment, or equivalent experience. Experience in the application of sophisticated statistical analytic methods.

Training in statistical concepts related to experimental and clinical study design, and some experience in their application in a research environment. Highlevel familiarity with statistical analysis packages such as Stata and SAS, and ability to utilize lower-level computational or programming languages such as R, S-Plus, VB, or C++ as necessary.

Education/Licensure/Certification: M.S. in statistics or biostatistics, or equivalent degree or experience, with emphasis on statistical methods and the theory that underlies their development and use.

Pay Scale Information

$72,176.00-$129,792.00

The pay scale listed for this position is generally for candidates that meet the specified qualifications and requirements listed on this specific job description. Additional pay may be determined for those candidates that exceed these specified qualifications and requirements.
