Job summary
The candidate will report to the Associate Director of Biospecimen Operations and under their supervision support BostonGene's laboratory teams with biospecimen management, upstream processing, and sample tracking/storage. The candidate will build and oversee a sample inventory tracking system using the existing Lab Information Management System (LIMS) and Benchling software. Once created they will assist in the transition to an end-to-end process for assuring chain of custody of all biospecimens.
Responsibilities
Support downstream users in clinical operations and R&D to maintaining inventories and providing samples for downstream platforms
Establish new protocols for receipt, storage, and inventory of biospecimens
Facilitate registration of new materials into the registry system
Maintain sample storage and appropriate entry into inventory database
Management of sample inventory including reconciliation, logging of exit from storage and recording of sample location
Facilitation of sample retrieval process, including appropriately logging sample use approvals and delivery of samples to indicated end users
Use of Benchling and LIMS inventory system to enter and track samples
Responsible for packaging and returning specimens to path labs, physicians, or research labs
Support research groups with building and maintaining inventories, including entering items into inventory
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in the Life Sciences, Engineering, or similar.
Understanding of HIPAA requirements.
Experience handling patient biospecimens, including blood, plasma, tissue biopsies, and saliva.
Experience within a shipping and receiving role.
Prior use of Benchling or record of learning other laboratory systems.
Ability to communicate effectively across system uses and stakeholders.
Sharp attention to detail, specifically when typed information is needed.
Ability to lift and move heavy objects up to 40lbs.
Stamina to stand for extended periods during work shifts.
