Overview
The Human Sleep Research Lab, in the Center for Health Sciences, is seeking highly motivated research associates to support several NIH-sponsored projects about adolescent brain development (e.g. Adolescent Brain and Cognitive Development (ABCD) study) and interactions between sleep and brain function in clinical populations. RAs get training and hands-on experience with neuroscience, applied psychology, and physiological measures. This position includes weekend work and evening work and may include occasional overnight work in the sleep lab. Work will be performed onsite at our Menlo Park facility.
Responsibilities
The Research Associate will be responsible for:
Collecting multiple types of data from participants (adolescents, adults) on weekdays or weekends
MRI scans
Laboratory set-up
Patient EEG hook-ups
Administering computerized neuropsychological tests
Recruiting and screening patients
Managing participant records
Tracking progress of studies
Entering data into a database
Potentially performing overnight polysomnography for a variety of research studies
Adhering to deadlines set by the investigator
Comply with governmental regulations and SRI policies regarding health and safety issues
Function independently to safely operate sophisticated equipment to record sleep and wake physiology
Qualifications
BA/BS in psychology, neuroscience, physiology, or a related field - New Grads are encouraged to apply
Proficiency in Spanish is highly preferred
Good organizational skills and experience in implementing complex and multiple tasks
Ability to work well with people, including children and adolescents, to elicit best efforts in testing
Experience with computer-driven devices
Ability to keep a tight schedule, follow through with attention to detail, and to work variable hours, including some nights and weekends
Variable work hours, including weekends, and occasional nights
Preferred Skills
Experience of principles of sound research design and data collection
Experience during degree program working in a lab, collecting data
A phlebotomy license is a bonus!
The salary for this role is: $66,560.00.
