UnityPoint Health has an excellent opportunity for a Biomedical Equipment Technician I (BMET I) position located at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge Iowa. This position provides biomedical services for general and advanced patient care equipment at Trinity Regional and area affiliated rural hospitals and clinics. The Biomed Equipment Technician has direct report responsibilities to the Site Manager or designated Supervisor. Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and performs both scheduled and emergency equipment repairs of general and advanced medical devices as assigned.

  • Performs scheduled Preventive Maintenance of general and advanced medical devices.

  • Provides education to clinical staff as to proper use and operation of medical equipment.

  • Responsible for coordination and performance of medical equipment project management assignments generally associated with either system relocations or new facility additions/renovations.

  • Must have general knowledge and understanding of PC's and required computer/network operating systems.

  • Accurate and timely documentation in CMMS database to assure integrity of performance history.

  • Communicates and updates clinical staff as to medical equipment service, maintenance events, and device status to assure best delivery of care.

  • Keep up to date with state/federal regulatory and accrediting agency guidelines for healthcare.

  • Adhere to all UnityPoint Health personnel policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.

  • Behave in a manner consistent with all Corporate Compliance policies and procedures.

  • Adheres to assigned on-call rotations and follows required availability and reporting to site as identified in the Clinical Engineering On-Call policy

Qualifications

  • Minimum 0-2 years of experience in a healthcare environment.

  • Self-motivating with strong organizational skills.

  • Ability to recognize and prioritize work assignments in a challenging environment.

  • Possesses excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to decipher electronic schematics and understand service maintenance manuals.

  • Ability to work as a team member, creating and maintaining effective working relationships.

  • Ability to understand and apply guidelines, policies and procedures.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel)

Education:

  • Associates degree from an accredited Biomedical Electronics Technology program, Electronic Engineering or Technical program, Military Biomedical certification, or equivalent is preferred.

Position Purpose: The Laboratory Technician position will manage the completion of routine analytical and laboratory testing in support of the food safety quality and operational teams. We are looking for a hardworking person who will perform routine analysis of product testing, being responsible for checking and monitoring instrumentation performance and conducting tests for which we are going to provide intermediate supervision. You are also being responsible to document results into databases and/or communication test results. Independently solve moderately complex issues while referring more complex problems to a higher-level staff will be a differential. Principal Accountabilities: * You will conduct routine quantitative and qualitative inspections and laboratory tests on raw materials, in-process and final products independently, supporting more complex trials and experiments under intermediate supervision. * You will be accountable for ensuring compliance programs for all individual testing which includes monitoring adherence to regulations and other procedural food safety compliance . * Interprets and documents results of all tests into active databases and communicates results as required. Communication scope limited to specification results to internal customers. * Runs calibration checks, preventative maintenance tasks, and simple repair to analytical instrumentation, maintaining customer specifications books up to date. * Works with the development of food/feed safety, quality and regulatory culture by interfacing cross functionally to build, maintain and improve an effective food safety, quality and regulatory culture. * Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Required Qualifications: * High school diploma, secondary education level or equivalent * Minimum two years of related professional experience, possessing basic working knowledge of laboratory instrumentation. * Basic Computer Skills. Preferred Qualifications: * Your ability to read and interpret documents (safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals) * Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in multiple formats * Write routine reports and correspondence * Professional approach when dealing with management, as well as when handling audits and representing the business to external community, suppliers and customers. * Work expertly individually and in a team environment * Strong computer program professional knowledge: Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Outlook.
