Overview

The Biomedical Equipment Technician II (BMET II) is required to install, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, calibrate, and verify the performance of complex biomedical equipment with minimal supervision. The individual should be competent in the use of all applicable test equipment and tools required in the performance of these duties. The BMET II may serve as technical advisor to the medical and clinical staff in the safe operation and use of clinical equipment. This position also assists in developing specifications for the selection of new clinical equipment. Responsibilities

Technical Service (40%)

  • Perform performance assurance (PA) inspections, scheduled maintenance, electrical safety inspections (ESI), and operation verification procedures (OVP) on complex and intricate biomedical equipment

  • Repair, install, and calibrate complex and intricate biomedical equipment

  • Inform supervisors of the status of repairs, scheduled inspections, unusual equipment situations, and any customer concerns

  • Work with, direct, and document the activities of subcontractors, vendors, and outside service technicians to ensure proper service delivery

  • Maintain biomedical expertise through ongoing training and education

  • Assist with Service Operations Special Projects as assigned

Regulatory Compliance (25%)

  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the equipment database to include the inventory, performance assurance (PA) schedules, nomenclature, and service history

  • Adheres to the Medical Equipment Management Plan (MEMP), including all regulatory agency compliances and other applicable policies and procedures

  • Responsible for ensuring all service and documentation is complete, timely, and accurate

Account Relationship Management (25%)

  • Build and maintain customer relationships

  • Discuss equipment status and functionality with clinicians

  • Adheres to the Mission, Vision, and Values of the organization(s) served.

  • Provide a positive representation of TRIMEDX services by integrating the core values into job performance

Inventory (10 %)

  • Perform periodic inspections of current inventory status

  • Verify the completion of security analysis for new customer equipment

  • Performs Incoming Inspections (II) to maintain a complete and accurate inventory of medical devices, including trial and evaluation, rental, and loaner equipment in addition to permanently assigned equipment inventory.

  • Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the equipment database to include inventory, performance assurance (PA) schedules, nomenclature, and service history

  • Make recommendations regarding inventory

Qualifications

Education and Work Experience

  • Associates degree in a technical/electronics field or equivalent military training required

  • Technical Certification (CBET) strongly preferred

  • Minimum 3 years of experience working with biomedical equipment in a clinical engineering environment

  • Valid driver's license required; variable travel requirements depending on primary site that may require use of personal vehicle

Knowledge

  • Complex computer skills including the ability to administrate a system, interpret error codes, defragment hard-drives, replace power supplies, and interpret computer codes required

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Education: Bachelor's degree required; degree in behavioral health related area preferred. If the bachelor's degree is not in a behavioral health related area, 15 of the college level semester hours of coursework must be in behavioral health OR a minimum of one year's experience in a behavioral health setting. In Virginia, a case management position may also be filled by an RN with an Associate's degree. Refer to the specific job description for Virginia RN Case Manager. Licensure: Must possess or obtain highest level of licensure appropriate to degree. Certification: Must possess or obtain highest level of certification appropriate to degree. Experience: Experience in mental health, substance abuse or intellectual disabilities preferred. Knowledge/Skills: Excellent verbal/written communication skills. Ability to maintain composure in difficult situations. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Conduct interviews with individuals and/or family members in a therapeutic manner so as to obtain critical and thorough information, provide written documentation of information obtained and exercise good judgment in evaluating situation, making decisions and implementing effective strategies. * 95% of the assigned caseload will receive the appropriate level of service each month as measured by the caseload report (TN Clinical) * 100% of the individuals authorized will receive an average of 10 encounters per month (Adult) OR 16 hours per month (C&Y). Additionally, all authorizations for CTT will remain current (TN CTT) * 90% of the assigned caseload will receive a direct or client related service each month as measured by the caseload report (VA Clinical) 2. Provide assessment, service planning, crisis assistance, daily living assistance and linkage, referral and advocacy to/for referred individuals. 3. Provide written documentation to complete all necessary chart work in accordance with policy on admissions treatment and discharges in a timely manner. * Records documentation must meet 90% compliance with applicable standards as measured by Ambulatory Review Form * 10 or fewer ISN related errors per month as indicated by monthly error report (when applicable) 4. Maintain client confidentiality according to Center policies. 5. Remain current in knowledge of community resources and how to access those resources. 6. Keep supervisors apprised of all critical or emergency situations. 7. Responds to emergency/crisis or walk-in situations calmly, rationally and in accordance with center policy and procedures. 8. Participate in inservice training and orientation and provide consultation and education services to the community as requested by supervisor/administration. 9. Be involved in the admission, hospital stay and discharge of individuals on caseload who are admitted to an impatient psychiatric facility. 10. Be available to consumers 24 hours a day for crisis assistance. After hours, the agency's after hours system may be utilized; however, the on-call staff as appropriate may contact the Case Manager. 11. Must be able to safely operate a motor vehicle to ensure the delivery of community based services. 12.
