Overview:

POSITION SUMMARY:

Genomic Health is seeking a highly talented and independently motivated Sr. Data Engineer / Analyst. The Sr. Biomedical Data Analyst will be directly responsible for ensuring the accurate, complete and timely collection, delivery and tracking of data from Research, Commercial and Manufacturing laboratories for analysis, reporting and presentation.

In addition this position will be responsible for managing databases used by the Biomedical Data Computing Group and will support the development of server application infrastructure as needed by the group. The ideal candidate will have experience with aspects of data engineering, computer programming, database management and DevOps.

The position will report to the Associate Director within the Biomedical Data Computing organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:

  • Perform accurate, complete and timely collection, validation and tracking of research, commercial and manufacturing data.

  • Construct datasets and visualizations for reporting

  • Maintain accurate documentation of programs and procedures

  • Develop programs for collection, extraction, analysis, presentation or tracking of data

  • Manage MSSQL database(s), develop / maintain data warehouse(s)

  • Assist with server application infrastructure maintenance (Nginx / Gunicorn / Docker / etc)

  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED

  • Bachelor's degree in life sciences, computer science, scientific or other relevant discipline

  • Minimum 5 years experience

  • Experience with SQL / MSSQL database management

  • Experience with statistical programming (R, Python, S, SAS or MatLab)

  • Strong communicator with ability to maintain open communication with internal employees, managers and customers as needed

  • Able to integrate and apply feedback in a professional manner

  • Able to prioritize and drive to results with a high emphasis on quality

  • Ability to work as part of a team

DESIRED

  • Experience with web application development (Django / JQuery / React)

  • Experience with source control (Git / TFS )

  • Experience with cloud computing (AWS, Azure)

  • Familiarity with molecular biology

  • Experience working with LIMS

This position will serve as a lead member of the team developing and implementing pilots of allcove -integrated 'one stop shop' youth mental health centers in the Bay Area, statewide and nationally. Modeled off of successful international models, the pilots will create stand-alone, integrated care sites for young people ages 12-25 to access early mental health support, physical health check-ups, substance use counseling, peer support, and education and employment resources all under one roof. The Data Analyst will be a core member of the evaluation team, collecting and analyzing data to determine pilot outcomes. These responsibilities will involve navigating complex service pathways, working with multiple established and new data systems, and challenging the status quo by designing and implementing new approaches. Duties include: * Collect and analyze data, create reports, review and explain trends; formulate and evaluate alternative solutions and/or recommendations to achieve the goals of the program or function. * Analyze and interpret policies; develop, revise and implement procedures for program or function * Represent the program or function as the key contact and subject matter expert within the department, unit or school. Commit resources and provide information and/or training. May also represent the program or function to external/internal stakeholders and constituencies. * Serve as critical liaison between implementation team(s) and stakeholder organizations – including Stanford and Santa Clara County Behavioral Health. * Work with international partners to collaborate on a shared common data set and best practices related to implementing a youth mental health model. * Set up data management and reporting procedures for the centers, including standard and custom reports. * Manage vendor system permissions and partner access to reports. * Provide training for center staff who will be accessing reports. With the guidance and support of a community consortium and youth advisory board, these programs seek to improve young people's mental, social, and emotional wellbeing through the provision of high quality, integrated, age-appropriate, low to no cost care for teenagers, young adults, and their families. The Data Analyst will be responsible for defining and overseeing implementation of the centers' data systems and procedures and will be a core member of the evaluation team, collecting and analyzing data to determine pilot outcomes. These responsibilities will involve navigating complex service pathways, working with multiple established and new data systems, and challenging the status quo by designing and implementing new approaches. Other responsibilities will include providing technical assistance to support the implementation of integrated youth mental health center pilots in other counties throughout California and the U.S. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, problem-solver and comfortable managing multiple stakeholders simultaneously. They will be innovative, flexible, detail-oriented, creative, resourceful, self-motivated, and solutions-focused. They will have excellent communication skills, experience working within complex clinical systems, ideally in a community facing role, and be able to interact effectively with a diverse range of individuals and organizations. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED): Bachelor's degree and three years of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience. Experience in a quantitative discipline such as economics, finance, statistics or engineering. This will involve working closely with program evaluators to determine outcome and process measures. * Establish data collection systems and integration with other systems such as electronic health records for the purpose of clinical services and program evaluation. * Work with national and international partners to develop model fidelity and expand the capacity for the US model to benefit from and share in the international effort to expand youth mental health programs. * Lead the set up and management of the data collection and management system for each allcove center, starting with the Santa Clara County pilot and growing to a dozen or more throughout the state and Country. * Serve as a core team member of the program evaluation team. * Lead the roll out of new programs and procedures across the centers and within the Center for Youth Mental Health & Wellbeing that support increased awareness, access, and stigma-reduction for mental health services for individuals ages 12-25.
