Woburn Memorial High School (WMHS) is seeking a certified secondary biology/chemistry teacher for the upcoming academic year 2024-2025. To be considered for this position, applicants must have experience teaching college prep and honors-level biology, and experience teaching college prep-level chemistry would be advantageous.

Roles and Responsibilities include:
Provide opportunities for students to work and share collaboratively and develop a strong respect for self and others while helping students appreciate science.
Create a welcoming, inclusive, culturally responsive classroom environment conducive to student learning and their ability to share their authentic selves.
Participate in the science curriculum review and design, and work cooperatively with a team to develop a strong school program and experiments, incorporating both state and district frameworks and district scope and sequence.
Collaborate and integrate with faculty across disciplines to build meaningful cross-curricular connections and vertical alignment.
Provide individual and small-group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of students with varying intellectual and scientific abilities and to accommodate a variety of student-centered instructional activities.
Preparing comprehensive,standards-based lessons
Use instructional practices that motivate and engage all students.
Create a safe physical and intellectual environment.
Create a student-centered classroom environment utilizing project-based learning.
Remain current by participating in ongoing professional development activities within and out-of-district.
Abide by state statutes, school board policies, district handbook, and regulations.
Use assessment data to inform instructional decisions.
Have effective verbal and written communication skills to interact with students and parents
Analytical skills and use of data to assess the educational needs, strengths, and weaknesses of students
Problem-solving skills to create individualized educational solutions
Effective time management
Technology skills to deliver educational content
Communicate with parents and school counselors on pupil progress.
Use successful, research-based instructional strategies, including differentiated instruction for diverse learners.
Regularly assess student abilities to design and implement strategies to enhance student learning.
Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly. Provide progress reports as required.
Qualifications & Skill Set:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
Current Massachusetts's DESE DESE Certification in High School Science.
Experience working in a diverse educational setting, including working successfully with students, colleagues, and families from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds.
