Biological Laboratory Support Technologist (5650908)

JGMS Government Services is seeking a full-time, on-site Biological Laboratory Technologist to join our team!

Scope:

The Environmental Systems Biology Department, located in Albuquerque, NM, is a diverse research group with a focus on both basic and applied biological and materials science research. We seek to address challenges that include biodefense and health security, and climate and energy security.

Our department is part of a highly multidisciplinary center, comprised of researchers with expertise across the fields of biology (molecular biology, microbiology, virology, immunology, and biochemistry), chemistry (analytical, organic, and physical), computational science (bioinformatics, machine learning, and computational chemistry), and engineering (chemical, mechanical, and biomedical).

Job Duties:

• Maintain algal and/or bacterial and/or phage cultures on plates and in liquid medium.

• Maintain mammalian and other eukaryotic cell cultures.

• Isolate and quantify DNA or RNA and perform PCR.

• Clone DNA into vectors.

• Evaluate effects of various treatments on cell survival, growth and other characteristics.

• Analyze results to inform new experiments and analyses.

• Perform microscopy.

• Work on a wide range of research projects;

• Learn experimental protocols to carry out laboratory work safely.

• Follow procedures to make buffers and reagents as required for experimental needs.

• Assist in experiment execution to meet project milestones.

• Catalog your research in an electronic lab notebook and present your work in lab meetings.

• Aid in the maintenance of the laboratory and daily lab operations.

• Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

BA/BS in Science, Mathematics, Engineering or a related field

Previous experience working in a biological laboratory, as well as experience with aseptic technique and microbiology.

Preferred Qualifications:

Eagerness to learn new skills in biochemistry and molecular biology.

Strong written and communication skills, as demonstrated by publications, presentations, and confirmed by professional and/or academic references. (include list of publications or copies of academic references with application/resume).

Security Clearance:

The ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Security Clearance is required.

Background Check and Screenings
