We are seeking a temporary Bioinformatics Scientist to join our highly collaborative, multi-disciplinary Data Science team. You will develop and apply methods to process, analyze, visualize, and integrate large scale biological datasets, including whole genome DNA sequencing, whole transcriptome RNA sequencing, proteomics, metabolomics, and more. You will work with scientific teams across LifeMine to contribute to the company's fungal natural product-derived drug discovery platform and lead projects. To succeed you will need intellectual curiosity, a collaborative work ethic, and strong subject matter expertise.
Job Responsibilities
Work with internal data scientists, learn internal data analysis pipelines, analyze and provide interpretation of fungal whole transcriptome RNA-Seq, and other large-scale biological datasets (proteomics, metabolomics, and more)
Independently support a wide variety of research via data analysis, statistical analysis, and experimental design
Under the supervision of internal scientist, manage the release and deployment of pipelines in a shared computing infrastructure
Employ best practices in coding, including thorough testing and documentation of code
Work with collaborators both internal and external to effectively communicate data results
Job Requirements
PhD or master degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biostatistics, or related discipline
Deep biological knowledge in fungi or related microbiomes
Deep technical expertise in:
Analysis of NGS data, especially large data sets and databases
Pipeline development and deployment
Data visualization and communication
Python and/or Perl, and R
Experience with the following desirable:
Cloud computing (e.g. AWS)
Experience with comparative genomics, evolutionary biology, DNA-seq, proteomics, or metabolomics
Workflow management systems (e.g. Nextflow, Luigi, Snakemake)
LIMS/data management systems
Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team, and excellent written and oral communication skills are required.
