Bindery craft persons areresponsible to ensure that the product being run on the line is producedin the most efficient manner, is of high quality and is produced at thelowest possible unit cost. They will be responsible for maintainingquality standards and will stay abreast of all data pertaining to the job thatis being produced on their machines. They are expected to provideeffective leadership in a team-based environment. Responsibilities will include,but are not limited to, the following:

Follows and enforces all safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe work environment.
Cleans, lubricates and maintains assigned machine to ensure its optimum operation.
Troubleshoots problems to maintain quality standards, keeps binding line / equipment in running condition, and requests maintenance as required.
Ensures that production goals are met.
Examines product frequently to ensure that it meets customer quality specifications.
Pulls and inspects hourly run samples to ensure quality standards are being met.
Provides effective leadership in a team-based environment.
Coordinates the assignment of crew members.
Leads, participates in and supports various team activities and meetings, including machine and departmental meetings.
Provide training for new team members.
Solicits information from the crew they are relieving, and communicates this information to the appropriate team members and conveys information to the following shift.
Stays abreast of data pertaining to the job that is being produced on his/her machine, including but not limited to: job instructions, AITs, shipper tickets, pagination and other data applicable to the job.
Performs other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned.
Assumes the duties of team members during relief periods, etc.
Monitors crewing and adjusts according to the activity throughout the shift.
Must be able to work in a team environment.
Demonstrated ability to manage cost center activities.
Demonstrated ability to provide effective leadership in a team-based environment.
A record of successful performance, including technical proficiency, in current position.
Demonstrated ability to interpret and correctly use appropriate job tickets, schedules and related instructions and information.
Demonstrated ability to adapt effectively and efficiently to changing production requirements.
General communication skills consistent with craft occupations.
Computer skills are preferred; please note that the development of appropriate computer skills will be required.
Previous experience in the operation of a binder machine or work in a printing environment preferred.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
