BIM & VDC Engineer

Responsibilities

Allan Myers is looking for a Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) Engineer with experience with CAD, BIM & VDC software. This position will convert 2D contract drawings into 3D models, perform means and methods analysis and quantity takeoff for exciting, innovative heavy civil construction projects. Responsibilities:

• Assist with BIM project setup and standards coordination.

• Create Revit families and resolve design issues.

• Manage and distribute digital documents.

• Coordinate and update electronic models with subcontractors.

• Produce models and drawings for heavy civil projects.

• Work with georeferenced models and survey data.

• Visualize construction sites and perform cut/fill analysis.

• Distribute drawings and documentation as per project specifications.

• Review engineering data for design conformity.

• Provide visuals for proposals, including renderings and animation.

• Maintain CAD/BIM/VDC tools, resources, and standards. Research new tools and software to enhance the CAD/BIM/VDC group.

• Work with point clouds from LIDAR and drone surveys.

• Generate accurate materials lists.

• Travel for meetings, site visits, and training as needed.

• Manage and customize Autodesk Suite software.

• Basic scripting for custom toolbars, macros, and Dynamo routines.

• Develop and deploy BIM implementation strategies. Provide IT support for BIM production. Offer BIM training and continuing education to staff.

• Attend and present at BIM-related conferences and workshops.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or related technical field.

• Minimum 1 year of experience working with VDC/BIM.

• Civil construction industry experience preferred.

• Must have solid understanding of design and document coordination, knowledge of construction and techniques, and a general understanding of various building and layout types.
