What Kind of Candidate are we looking for?

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Works directly with and takes direction from project personnel and/or BIM Coordinator

  • Creates 3D model based off red-lines from either BIM Coordinator or field team

  • Develops 2D installation drawings and detail drawings from 3D model or sketches

  • Prints Documents and helps keep drawings up to date while archiving older drawings

  • Helps set up project and keeps it maintained

  • Keeps a daily log on tasks being performed

  • QA/QC own work

  • Helps QA/QC drawings based off of standards and best practices

  • Helps QA/QC model based off of standards and best practices

  • Download and upload files when needed to keep project current

  • Has effective communication with field and project management team

Required Skills & Experience

  • Advanced Level drafter/CAD operator and modeler

  • 5+ years' experience using Revit and AutoCAD regarding 2D drawings

  • 2+ years' experience using Revit and AutoCAD regarding 3D population

  • 2+ years' experience using Navisworks Manage and can run clash detection effectively

  • Requires 4-5 hours a month of dedicated training on software and electrical construction

  • Requires minimal QA/QC for any work being submitted

  • Advanced Electrical knowledge

  • Equipment Clearances

  • Basic common code - sizing of pull cans, supports maximums.

  • Can read blue prints at an advanced level.

  • Can make recommendations on best practices and constructability

  • Can perform 3D modeling at an advanced level

  • Can help train others on 3D Modeling and 2D drafting based off of standards and best practices

VIEW JOBS 3/31/2020 12:00:00 AM 2020-06-29T00:00 Opportunity: We are seeking an energetic and highly motivated BIM Engineering Modeler for an exciting opportunity in our Chicago office to help support a Mega Project in the Chicagoland area. This position requires an individual who is self-motivated and able to work in a team environment. You will be responsible for leading BIM based production, managing BIM software and other production tools utilized by the team, participate in BIM Standards development and deployment, and support the BIM needs of our local staff. The BIM Production Lead will work closely with discipline lead Engineers/Architects to communicate project information on behalf of the Project Manager (PM). Responsibilities: * Assists PM with collecting Client & Project standard documents and protocols * Use Revit to create, manage and own MEP BIM models and develop content, as needed. * Perform multi-discipline coordination utilizing BIM techniques and clash detection tools * Assists in content editing (red-line) of specifications with direction from Project Engineers * Developing detailed design drawings using Revit and AutoCAD software. * Collaborating with engineers to layout and detail components and structural systems. * Maintain appropriate electronic file management * Support the project team in the documentation and preparation of materials related program guidelines and project execution plans * Rename documents to match established project protocols * Verify drawing/specification sets are correct, prepare transmittal information, and deliver to client * Audits QAQC compliance for assigned projects * Maintain BIM and CAD proficiency and mastery of current software platforms. Qualifications: * A Bachelor of Science or higher university degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction and/or technical writing appropriate experience * 3+ years of design experience in the professional services industry, preferably A/E/C firm. * Proficiency in using and supporting the current versions of AutoCAD and Revit MEP and Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology. * Professional understanding of AEC industry documentation conventions (for both drawings and specifications) * Basic knowledge of commercial construction materials and methods * Basic proficiency with BIM/VDC software applications (Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, etc.) and willingness to further develop skills sets * Balance multiple deadlines and changing priorities while working efficiently under time constraints * Utilize time management skills including organization, multi-tasking, and prioritization to achieve expected results * Excellent collaboration skills to be able to work closely with project team members * Positive attitude and self-motivation * Knowledge of overall design and project delivery process ability to coordinate lead discipline engineer/architects * Skilled in MS Office and Adobe Acrobat * Ability to learn and become skilled in software used by Clients (Projectwise, E-Builder, etc. Who We Are Milhouse Engineering & Construction, Inc. was founded in 2001 with the goal of building the best engineering company in the country.
