Our Seattle office is seeking an experienced MEP BIM Manager to contribute to a variety of exciting buildings projects. This opportunity will develop our BIM expertise for delivery on multi-disciplinary projects with the focus on Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP). This role is both a leader of people and delivers on projects.
Job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Subject Matter Expertise
Prepare and maintain BIM models to allow simultaneous production by a large multi-person team without loss of productivity.
Regularly review BIM model content, checking for errors and inconsistencies in the work of others, keeping files as small as possible through a systematic management process.
Create and own the multidisciplinary spatial coordination responsibility for all building services projects in 3D, taking into account coordination with structural, architectural, and civil components.
Create modeling protocols that allow for export of Revit content to analysis and visualization software and to other BIM software such as Rhino
Set up and maintain architectural models to ensure speed of production and to highlight changes to the rest of the team.
Develop BIM management capabilities in other BIM technicians.
Participate in candidate selection to meet business needs
Proactive leadership with the team
Help teach engineers and new technicians the software skills necessary to be successful in their jobs
Collaborate with Owners, Clients and Contractors to develop project BIM Execution Plans and facilitate their implementation into projects
Create automated schedules, sections, views, enlarged plans, and single lines arising from Revit database content for Revit MEP.
Use Navisworks to coordinate BIM model with all design team members from other trades and demonstrate conflicts which must be resolved.
Run BIM coordination meetings with other BIM technicians and engineers to resolve conflicts.
Be responsible for BIM file management for multiple projects, including file naming, versioning, viewports, paper sheet setup, scripts, etc, along with management of file transfer protocols in an organized fashion.
Take responsibility for own work produced to a high standard, as well as the work of the entire BIM team.
Ensure outputs meet the required standards and meet agreed deadlines.
Develop engineer's concepts and sketches into accurate models and drawings, through direct communications
Create Revit families from scratch or adapt existing families to project needs.
Perform BIM production in Revit MEP.
Manage submissions and ensure proper QA/QC protocols are implemented
7 years of experience coordinating/managing Building Information Models.
Assoc/BS/MS degree in Engineering, Architecture, or similar building design profession would be useful, but not absolutely necessary
Expertise with Revit MEP as demonstrated by sophisticated use of software beyond just modeling 3D content.
Knowledge of Navisworks required; knowledge of Dynamo, Grasshopper, 360 Glue, or other parametric, fabrication or coordination tools a plus
Experience in 3D design and coordination of multiple trades.
Ability and willingness to learn new programs as required by individual projects.
Familiarity with calculation capabilities of Revit MEP and interoperability between Revit and other software programs.
Experience with training and managing a BIM team.
Familiarity with working in the Architecture/Engineering/Construction environment under deadlines and with multiple disciplines contributing to BIM models.
Good communication skills are essential for team-based working and for teaching others about best practices in the BIM environment.
Oral and written English skills sufficient to produce coordination assessment reports for the client and to represent Arup at in-person BIM model coordination meetings with the client.
Excellent planning and organization skills required for our fast-paced environment.
Excellent team leadership, consensus-building, and creative alternative-generation skills for driving to solutions with team buy-in, while listening for needs of each individual discipline.
Must be highly motivated, proactive and willing to take on new challenges.
