Our Seattle office is seeking an experienced MEP BIM Manager to contribute to a variety of exciting buildings projects. This opportunity will develop our BIM expertise for delivery on multi-disciplinary projects with the focus on Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP). This role is both a leader of people and delivers on projects.

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Subject Matter Expertise

  • Prepare and maintain BIM models to allow simultaneous production by a large multi-person team without loss of productivity.

  • Regularly review BIM model content, checking for errors and inconsistencies in the work of others, keeping files as small as possible through a systematic management process.

  • Create and own the multidisciplinary spatial coordination responsibility for all building services projects in 3D, taking into account coordination with structural, architectural, and civil components.

  • Create modeling protocols that allow for export of Revit content to analysis and visualization software and to other BIM software such as Rhino

  • Set up and maintain architectural models to ensure speed of production and to highlight changes to the rest of the team.

Management:

  • Develop BIM management capabilities in other BIM technicians.

  • Participate in candidate selection to meet business needs

  • Proactive leadership with the team

  • Help teach engineers and new technicians the software skills necessary to be successful in their jobs

Project Delivery:

  • Collaborate with Owners, Clients and Contractors to develop project BIM Execution Plans and facilitate their implementation into projects

  • Create automated schedules, sections, views, enlarged plans, and single lines arising from Revit database content for Revit MEP.

  • Use Navisworks to coordinate BIM model with all design team members from other trades and demonstrate conflicts which must be resolved.

  • Run BIM coordination meetings with other BIM technicians and engineers to resolve conflicts.

  • Be responsible for BIM file management for multiple projects, including file naming, versioning, viewports, paper sheet setup, scripts, etc, along with management of file transfer protocols in an organized fashion.

  • Take responsibility for own work produced to a high standard, as well as the work of the entire BIM team.

  • Ensure outputs meet the required standards and meet agreed deadlines.

  • Develop engineer's concepts and sketches into accurate models and drawings, through direct communications

  • Create Revit families from scratch or adapt existing families to project needs.

  • Perform BIM production in Revit MEP.

  • Manage submissions and ensure proper QA/QC protocols are implemented

Requirements:

  • 7 years of experience coordinating/managing Building Information Models.

  • Assoc/BS/MS degree in Engineering, Architecture, or similar building design profession would be useful, but not absolutely necessary

  • Expertise with Revit MEP as demonstrated by sophisticated use of software beyond just modeling 3D content.

  • Knowledge of Navisworks required; knowledge of Dynamo, Grasshopper, 360 Glue, or other parametric, fabrication or coordination tools a plus

  • Experience in 3D design and coordination of multiple trades.

  • Ability and willingness to learn new programs as required by individual projects.

  • Familiarity with calculation capabilities of Revit MEP and interoperability between Revit and other software programs.

  • Experience with training and managing a BIM team.

Qualities:

  • Familiarity with working in the Architecture/Engineering/Construction environment under deadlines and with multiple disciplines contributing to BIM models.

  • Good communication skills are essential for team-based working and for teaching others about best practices in the BIM environment.

  • Oral and written English skills sufficient to produce coordination assessment reports for the client and to represent Arup at in-person BIM model coordination meetings with the client.

  • Excellent planning and organization skills required for our fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent team leadership, consensus-building, and creative alternative-generation skills for driving to solutions with team buy-in, while listening for needs of each individual discipline.

  • Must be highly motivated, proactive and willing to take on new challenges.

  • Able to work under pressure and adhere to strict deadlines

  • Proactively check resource data and work of self and others

  • Ability to conceptualize and design practical solutions

  • Organized and detail oriented
