The Architectural Building Information Model (BIM) Specialist leads the implementation of BIM technology, research & development, and provides direction and leadership to architectural studios, and Project Digital Coordinators.

The Architectural BIM Specialist works closely with the senior members of design teams, particularly the senior designer, technical designer and the project manager to ensure project delivery utilizing BIM. The Architectural BIM Specialist will be active in developing the project BMP (BIM Management Plan) identifying goals and objectives for the utilization of BIM; and monitoring progress of the BIM from the project initiation to final delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with Project Digital Coordinators in developing a BMP (BIM Management Plan) for each project

  • Collaborates with Project Digital Coordinators in setting up each project in BIM

  • Coordinates BIM software training for staff and monitors staff BIM experience levels

  • Coordinates firm-wide technologies, standards and guidelines with fellow BIM Specialists in other offices on a consistent and regular basis

  • Monitors the models for quality and content throughout the project delivery process and at specific project delivery milestones

  • Evaluation and development of BIM processes, policies, protocols and workflows

  • Identifies and evaluates productivity gains to be made utilizing third party software

  • Primary contact with vendor and other BIM related technical support

  • Monitors and tracks team compliance with BIM standards and guidelines

  • Document and communicate best practices and workflows

  • Support interoperability between multiple software applications

  • Organizes and leads weekly Project Digital Coordinator meeting

  • Participates in firm-wide Digital Design Leadership conferences.

Required Qualifications

  • 5-year professional architectural degree or architectural master's degree; Architectural license preferred,
    5 or more years of experience in architectural design development, construction documentation, and detailing on a wide variety of project types,

  • General knowledge of integrated architectural and engineering practice,

  • Strong supervisory, leadership and communication skills; superior organizational skills and detail orientation,

  • 5 or more years of experience with Autodesk Revit,

  • Experience with Dynamo; experience with Navisworks,

  • Interoperability experience, particularly between Revit and Rhino,

Preferred Education

  • Bachelor of Arts or Science degree from an accredited architecture school

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited engineering school

  • Bachelor of Construction Management

  • Autodesk Certified User or Autodesk Certified Professional

What Kind of Candidate are we looking for? Principal Duties and Responsibilities: * Works directly with and takes direction from project personnel and/or BIM Coordinator * Creates 3D model based off red-lines from either BIM Coordinator or field team * Develops 2D installation drawings and detail drawings from 3D model or sketches * Prints Documents and helps keep drawings up to date while archiving older drawings * Helps set up project and keeps it maintained * Keeps a daily log on tasks being performed * QA/QC own work * Helps QA/QC drawings based off of standards and best practices * Helps QA/QC model based off of standards and best practices * Download and upload files when needed to keep project current * Has effective communication with field and project management team Required Skills & Experience * Advanced Level drafter/CAD operator and modeler * 5+ years' experience using Revit and AutoCAD regarding 2D drawings * 2+ years' experience using Revit and AutoCAD regarding 3D population * 2+ years' experience using Navisworks Manage and can run clash detection effectively * Requires 4-5 hours a month of dedicated training on software and electrical construction * Requires minimal QA/QC for any work being submitted * Advanced Electrical knowledge * Equipment Clearances * Basic common code – sizing of pull cans, supports maximums. * Can read blue prints at an advanced level. * Can make recommendations on best practices and constructability * Can perform 3D modeling at an advanced level * Can help train others on 3D Modeling and 2D drafting based off of standards and best practices Benefits: We offer a fast paced, dynamic environment where learning and growing technically becomes part of your career.
