POSITION SUMMARY:

The Billing Supervisor will report to the Billing Office Director and help lead and manage a team of billing specialists. Responsibilities include reviewing work of the billing staff to ensure accuracy, resolving inconsistencies as needed. Provide customer support to patients with disputes. Provider weekly reports to the billing staff and assign duties as necessary.

Essential Functions Statement(s):

  • Maintains a relationship with the payers in conjunction with the Billing Office Director.
  • Actively participates in the review of third-party payer contracts as requested by the Billing Office Director.
  • Actively supports and promotes a professionalism that encourages staff participation in the development of standards that is collaborative, mutually respectful, and utilizes current trends and data in professional practice both clinical and administrative areas.
  • Compiles/ analyzes data, prepares and presents statistical information on department performance, and productivity.
  • Attends required meetings as requested.
  • Assist in month end closing and reporting.
  • Helps manages the human resources of the department in conjunction with the Billing Office Director and Human Resources. In doing so, interviews prospective employees and recommends the best applicant based on skills, knowledge and abilities required for the job.
  • Plans, schedules, and organizes work for group ensuring proper distribution and delegation of assignments and efficient utilization of personnel, space, and facilities; overall accountability for the requisition, care, and maintenance of unit inventory, equipment, and supplies.
  • Supports staff by responding positively to change while supporting colleagues through the change process.
  • Assist with the implementation of departmental policies and procedures in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends and developments in the field by reading appropriate articles, journals, and related material, and attends seminars, conferences, and so forth. Recommends continuing educations programs for staff.
  • Reviews work of billing staff to ensure accuracy, resolving inconsistencies as needed.
  • Assists with performance evaluations.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Education and Experience:

  • Five to Ten years related experience.
  • High School Diploma
  • Strong working knowledge of medical terminology, CPT, HCPCS, and ICD10 and claims.
  • Knowledge of basic collection practices and laws.
  • Overall understanding of managed care products.
  • Ability to maintain records and produce reports.
  • Experience with and knowledge of medical terminology, coding and office procedures.
  • Experience with and knowledge of third-party and insurance company operating procedures, regulations, billing requirements, and governmental reimbursement programs.

Computer Skills:

Advanced computer skills, Microsoft Office Suite, EMR & related systems, Billing software.

Excellent interpersonal skills, open and approachable personality</p><p>Education:Essential:* High School Diploma or GED</p><p>Responsibilities</p><ul><li>Assists Manager in ensuring that all claims are processed and paid at the prescribed production standards of quality and are well documented to facilitate regulatory compliance and successful outcomes to internal/external review and audits.</li></ul><p>*Identifies patterns in resubmitted and adjusted claims. Identifies trends and inconsistencies that require revisions to billing/follow-up guidelines and/or system modifications. <br><br> Addresses trends with manager. Maintains electronic billing systems.</p><p>*Acts as a resource person to answer questions internally or externally. Assures open and timely communication with all employees.</p><p>*Reviews daily/weekly reports and formulates work plans and assignments based on the analysis of the workload and available personnel. Prepare work status reports and statistics for Manager and Director within established timeframes for distribution.</p><p>*Assists manager in the development, maintenance, monitoring and enforcing of the department policies procedures and departmental goals. Assists manager in identifying and maintaining training needs for team to ensure that team and individual goals are met.</p><p>*Supervise the day to day activities and staff of their assigned team to meet established goals and targets. Performs quality audits to ensure goals and targets are met.</p><p>*Assists manager in performing random reviews of problem accounts and resolution. Ensure that all issues are acknowledged and resolved within established time periods.</p><p>*Track attendance and note all occurrences , approve and maintain time off requests, and manage all payroll functions within established PHS guidelines.
