OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION:
The Billing Specialist II will be responsible for obtaining and recording accurate patient information to submit on medical claims and appeals. They will facilitate phone calls (including peer-to-peer appeal level calls) between patients, physicians, and their insurance to prove medical necessity of Biodesix testing. They will review and submit appeals to both government and commercial insurance plans on behalf of patients. The Billing Specialist II will evaluate health plan correspondence and properly assign and manage case flow through the billing process. They will work closely with Customer Support Patient Advocates and Billing Team to ensure accurate information is recorded and billing concerns are addressed. The Billing Specialist II will be responsible for escalated calls and will provide support to Sales Team as needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Learn billing software and process flows
Review and submission of appeals to government and commercial health plans
Facilitate productive peer-to-peer calls to insurance plans
Adhere to process flows and Standard Operating Procedures
Accurate recording of patient data and communications
Answer patient billing questions and concerns
Work collaboratively with internal departments
COMPETENCY OR POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Strong communication skills- both oral and written (over the phone and in-person)

Bi-lingual preferred
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Undergraduate degree preferred
Experience in Finance or cash collections preferred
Medical/Laboratory Billing Experience preferred
