We currently have a direct-hire, full-time openings for a Billing Specialist in Carlsbad, CA. This position is responsible for providing comprehensive reimbursement services, including intake or newly referred accounts/patients in a manner that ensures the company receives appropriate reimbursement for authorized services provided to patients. S/he will interact with case managers, third party administrators, payer representatives, patients, customer care representatives and sales representatives.

Your day will be very busy you will:

  • Manage claims process including in-take, claim submission and accounts receivable activities for Breg's in-house billing programs.

  • Assist patients on their queries/concerns etc.,

  • Process and facilitate pre-certification and data input processes for claims.

  • Contact insurance carriers to verify coverage of certain items. Relay information back to the account regarding the status.

  • Key and input claim information and coordinate with the physicians' personnel regarding documentation.

  • Analyze aging to prioritize collection activity and determine appropriate action to be taken to collect and resolve accounts. Contact third party payers, physicians' personnel, sales representatives, and patients to resolve billing, reimbursement, and payment problems.

  • Contact patient to notify, collect, and establish terms of payment.

  • Review third party payments to determine correct level of reimbursement.

  • Serve as an advocate for reimbursement by third party payers.

  • Maintain related files and records in accordance with company and regulatory requirements

What your background will be:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; some college preferred and 2+ years applicable experience.

  • Proficient in reimbursement principles, medical terminology, payer groups and networks including Medicare, worker's compensation and private insurance.

  • Computer proficient to include web browser/internet search, MS Outlook, Word and Excel. Technical competence includes the ability to learn new software and systems.

  • Relevant experience typically includes intake, medical insurance/billing/reimbursements ideally in a durable medical equipment environment. Previous experience working with Billing Software systems highly desired.

This position will be located throughout the United States and may have the opportunity to work from home. This position is responsible for providing ongoing feedback, training and education to Breg Billing, Field and Sales teams regarding the accuracy and integrity of Breg billing operations. S/he is responsible for the chart review for Medicare and other payers as required. S/he will also conduct clinical reviews of medical records or other program integrity initiatives such as requests for information or in support of proactive data analysis efforts. Medicare and applicable payer guidelines will be applied in making clinical determinations as to the appropriateness of coverage. Your day will be very busy… you will: * Interprets national and state coding and documentation guidelines to ensure consistent and accurate implementation and compliance with external regulations. * Conducts reviews of billing processes/claims to ensure quality standards are met prior to billing. * Leads or participates in projects to drive improvements to Breg's quality systems. Conducts meetings with Compliance, Quality and Operations on process improvements identified. * Reviews information contained in Standard Claims Processing System (e.g., claims history, provider files) to determine provider billing patterns in Medicare/ other payer payment policies. * Utilizes Medicare and Contractor guidelines for coverage determinations. Utilizes extensive knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS Level II along with analysis and processing of Medicare/ other payer claims. * Provides technical expertise to clinical and non-clinical staff to identify and resolve coding and medical record/chart documentation problems impacting the accuracy and consistency of coded data in the clinical database * Provides training to billing team in PSC locations and in India along with the Training & Quality team on medical terminology, reading medical records, new guidelines and policy interpretation etc. * Coordinates and compiles the written Investigative Summary Report to the PI Investigator upon completion of the records review for submitting Redetermination/Appeals with Insurance * Completes assignments in a manner that meets the quality assurance goal of 100% accuracy. * Contacts insurance carriers to verify coverage of certain items. Relays information back to the account regarding the status. * Contacts third party payers, physicians' personnel, sales representatives, and patients to resolve billing, reimbursement, and payment problems. * Serves as an advocate for reimbursement by Medicare/Third party payers. * Maintains related files and records in accordance with company and regulatory requirements and practice. What your background will be: * Minimum Associates degree and 3+ years relevant experience to include minimum 2+ years billing and coding experience. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. * Knowledge of quality and audit systems. * Proficiency in reimbursement principles, medical terminology, payer groups and networks including Medicare, worker's compensation and private insurance is highly recommended. * Detailed knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology. * Knowledge of national coding and documentation guidelines and regulations. * Competence in assigning ICD10, CPT codes and modifiers. * Computer proficiency to include web browser/internet search, MS Outlook, MS office to include Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
