Divisions within Washington County Health and Human Services are listed below:

  • Administrative Services: We are responsible for providing administrative, financial, and compliance support to the entire department.

  • Animal Services: We are located at the Bonnie Hays Animal Shelter in Hillsboro, Oregon and offer resources and services that help our community live safely and happily with pets.

  • Behavioral Health (Mental Health and Addictions): We provide civil commitment services, protective services, and care coordination.

  • Developmental Disabilities: We provide services to support individuals experiencing intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). These services include case management, protective services, eligibility, and foster care licensing/certification.

  • Disability, Aging and Veteran Services (DAVS): We provide programs and services to maintain and enhance the quality of life to assure that basic needs are met for Washington County seniors, veterans and people with disabilities

  • Public Health: We work in partnership with our community to improve and protect the public's health and achieve health equity through prevention, regulation and education.

  • Disease Control & Prevention (DCAP)

Our Administrative Specialist II (AS II) members are responsible for providing a variety of administrative, clerical, and project-related support using independent judgment in content and style and have considerable public contact in explaining policies and procedures. These positions provide support that requires the ability to learn the procedures and operating details of the applicable work unit. Incumbents prepare correspondences and other documents using Microsoft Office 365 software or equivalent, perform data entry in a wide variety of databases, and process documents using considerable responsible judgment.

The majority of full-time AS II positions have a schedule of Monday-Friday, 8:00 am-5:00 pm. Some positions will require to provide in-person services only, but others may be eligible for hybrid work schedule including 2-3 days/week of remote work. Additionally, based on the business need, some positions may be scheduled to work during weekends/holidays.

Depending on the position, the work location may vary between Public Services Building, Elam Young Parkway Office, and Service Center East at Murray.

  • This recruitment is being conducted specifically for Health and Human Services and will be used to fill future full-time, part-time, variable hour, temporary, seasonal, and limited duration vacancies that may become available within the next six-months or so.

Part-time regular positions will be scheduled to work on average of 20 hours per week; will accrue sick and vacation time; and are eligible for holiday pay prorated based on the hours worked. These positions are not eligible for medical, dental, or vision benefits.

Variable hour positions are at-will and hours are limited to 20 hours per week. These positions will accrue sick time and are not eligible for vacation accrual, paid holiday, health insurance including medical, dental, and vision benefits.

Temporary positions are at-will and hours are limited to 24 hours per week up to 6 months of duration. These positions will accrue sick time and are not eligible for vacation accrual, paid holiday, health insurance including medical, dental, and vision benefits.

Limited duration positions are at-will, limited to the duration of the grant or funding source, or the duration required to complete the project assigned to the position. Benefits including sick and vacation accruals, holiday pay, and medical, dental, or vision benefits available to employees appointed to limited duration positions are based on their full-time equivalent and corresponding eligibility.

Part-time limited duration positions will accrue sick and vacation time and are eligible for holiday pay prorated based on the hours worked. These positions are not eligible for health insurance including medical, dental, and vision benefits.

Bilingual Positions:

Designated bilingual positions require that the incumbent have knowledge of another language (primarily Spanish) besides English, spelling, grammar, and punctuation. It is required to possess skill in writing accurately; ability to speak fluently; and ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing. If you possess these skills, you are encouraged to apply. Upon successfully passing the applicable proficiency assessment test in a selected language, an additional $75 per pay period for bilingual skills will be paid to qualified employees. Pay periods are every two weeks.

  • A high school diploma or equivalent; AND Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience providing administrative or clerical support.

  • Possession of Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) or other applicable certifications may substitute for up to one (1) year of the experience requirement.

  • Some positions may require the ability to speak, read, write, and translate English into a different language (mostly Spanish) or vice versa. Such positions will require the incumbent to take and pass proficiency assessment test.

Selection Process:
