Job Description

Job Title: English Language Learner (ELL) Paraprofessional

Department: Paraprofessional

Supervisor: Building Principal

EXEMPT (Y/N): N

Summary

Assist the teacher to help students become proficient in English and as academically independent as possible. This is a team member position, which requires the ability to work closely with other staff members as well as students. The duties and responsibilities of the professional will vary depending upon the age and English language proficiency of the students.

Department Duties:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Assist the classroom teacher with record-keeping, materials preparation, and other clerical or housekeeping activities, such as recording of grades, checking papers, making and copying teaching materials, filing, cleaning and checking adaptive equipment, etc.

Supervise classroom activities under the direction of the teacher.

Help small groups or individual students with teacher-assigned tasks.

Assist ELL student(s) in regular class, as appropriate. Escort student to/from office, classroom, etc.

Assist teacher with the implementation with classroom management.

Participate, as appropriate, in In-Service Training.

Assists with other duties and assume other responsibilities as may be assigned.

Education and/or Experience

Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general district periodicals, professional journals, safety procedures, building procedures, governmental regulations, teacher lesson plans, etc.. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of administrators, teachers, paraprofessionals, parents, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word Processing software; Able to correctly enter data Spreadsheet software and Aesop Human Resource systems.

VIEW JOBS 1/18/2020 12:00:00 AM 2020-04-17T00:00 Responsible for the accurate and timely sampling, testing, shipping and storage of plasma collected from donors. 1 In compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), responsible for collecting plasma samples and moving plasma units to freezer to ensure product quality. 2 Ensures plasma units are properly stored according to SOPs, which could include unsuitable plasma units and samples. 3 May ensure accuracy of unit labeling by verifying the pre-printed label matches the dynamic label. 4 Utilizes sterile technique to draw samples and uses heat sealer to assure the sterility and quality of plasma unit samples per SOPs. 5 Ensures samples and units are packed and shipped in accordance with SOPs and center procedures. Prepares shipping and unit disposal documentation. 6 Conducts daily calibration of equipment according to SOP. Resolves calibration issues. 7 Troubleshoots equipment failures. Creates incident documentation, removes and/or replaces equipment from service. 8 Monitors freezer and refrigerator temperatures and immediately informs appropriate personnel if equipment is not functioning properly. Record variances. Responds to and resolves freezer and/or refrigerator alarms. 9 May provide guidance and technical training about processes and procedures to Processing Technicians and other staff as required. 10 Ensures the accurate recording of donor data in the electronic donor information management system as outlined in the SOPs. 11 Understands the policies and procedures associated with hyper immune programs at the center if applicable. 12 Maintains clean efficient work environment, and ensures sufficient operating supplies and forms are available as needed. Follows all Health Safety & Environmental (HSE) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) policies and procedures. Promotes safety in all actions.
