JOB OVERVIEW:
Perform all medical receptionist functions at primary care and community-based health centers for underserved populations. The Medical Receptionist will report to the Health Center Administrator.
LANGUAGE: Must be fluent in Spanish and English
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Be responsible for all front desk functions in a primary care setting.
Schedule appointments, including specialty and ancillary appointments.
Answer incoming phone calls.
Complete managed care referrals.
Obtain pre-certs when needed.
Be responsible for patient registration data entry.
Verify insurance coverage.
Complete daily batching of encounter forms.
Log referrals in the tracking system.
Follow up to obtain reports from specialists.
Arrange transportation when needed for patients.
Assist patients when needed.
Review patient charts and encounter forms for completion.
File reports and charts.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Comply with HIPAA and confidentiality policies and procedures as they apply to the job.
Comply with the standards of the Department of Public Health (DPH), The Joint Commission, and other accreditation and regulatory agencies.
Adhere to all PHMC policies and procedures.
Know and adhere to the Infection Control and Environment of Care guidelines and procedures as described in the annual education module.

Skills:
Fluency in Spanish and English
Knowledge of billing procedures and Insurance verification
Data entry skills
Knowledge of medical terminology
Familiarity with managed care plans and referral process

Ability to manage and complete work assigned by several staff members
Flexibility
Experience: 1-2 years of experience in a medical office environment
Education: High school diploma or equivalent
