DESCRIPTION: To provide language support to school functions including translation and instruction. To provide support to teachers and students.

Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills required.

SALARY: Classified Grade D, $12.46 - $14.00 per hour, depending on recent relevant experience. 8 hours per day, Tuesday through Friday, 9 month work schedule, paid over 12 months. Position eligible for benefits.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide communication translation. Duties may include document translation, phone translation and meeting translation for staff and students.

  • Instruct and tutor small groups and individual students. Duties may include implementing intervention programs, following teacher developed lessons, assessing students, and providing feedback to teachers and families.

  • Handle and support student supervision (duty). Duties may include supervising students inside and outside in a variety of school related settings.

  • Provide clerical support. Duties may include copying, organizing, filing and grading document in a support of a program, a classroom or the office.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.

  • Must be able to get along with others, be flexible to change, and willing to work with multiple grade levels and teachers.

  • Possess excellent communication skills with a demonstrated ability to communicate with school staff, students and parents.

  • Passion and desire to help students improve their literacy skills and other educational skills.

  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) skills required.

  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds

  • Must be able to pass a post offer, pre-employment physical.

  • Must be able to pass a Colorado and Federal Bureau of Investigation background check.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • No experience working with children or in a classroom required.

  • Ability to fluently speak, read, write, and translate in Spanish and English.

  • Basic math, accounting skills, customer service and public relations skills.

  • Good personal computer, keyboarding and work processing skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal relations, critical thinking, problem solving and organizational skills.

  • The ability to manage confidentiality in all aspects of the job, manage multiple priorities, manage multiple tasks with frequent interruptions, and ability to diffuse and manage volatile and stressful situations.

VIEW JOBS 12/6/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-03-06T00:00 DESCRIPTION: Supervise preschool age children in the integrated preschool classrooms and in the Intensive Flex preschool classroom who have significant support needs and complex communication needs. Allactivities are under the supervision of certified teachers. Maintain cleanliness and safety of the classroom, prepare instructional materials, prepare and provide snacks, change diapers and clothes, etc. SALARY: Classified – Grade C, $11.28 – $12.97 based on previous job experience. (After January 1, 2019, Grade will change to Grade F, $13.71-15.39 based on previous experience.) 29 hours per week, 7.25 hours per day, on the 9-month/4-day work week schedule. Not eligible for benefits. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Supervise children and activities in a classroom environment. Ensure safety and security of children. Provide direct instruction and/or academic support and supervision for general education students and students with disabilities in accordance with their Individualized Education Plan (IEP) while in the preschool classroom. * Prepare instructional materials for small and large group daily activities. Prepare nutritional snacks. Modify materials and assist with lesson plans for inclusion of special education students in general education classroom participation. Provide in-class support for students. Adapt and assist students with lesson modifications as needed / directed. * Assist general education students and students with special needs including toileting, diapering, self care (e.g., brushing teeth, washing face and hands, changing clothes, etc.), eating and tube feeding, transportation, communication. * Assist students with physical needs, including positioning and transitioning students using specialized adaptive equipment. * Assist in monitoring student's progress, and documenting student activities and abilities. * Monitor and implement behavior support plans throughout the school including monitoring on the playground to ensure safety and security of students. * Supervise children entering and exiting the bus and during recess. QUALIFICATIONS: * High school diploma or equivalent required. * Ability to demonstrate independence and initiative in implementing instructional programs at a preschool level. * Ability to be flexible and work as a team member with preschool teachers and group leader. * Ability to demonstrate caring and nurturing for young children, yet able to be consistent in implementing established routine. * Physical stamina and ability to be able to lift children and conduct activities on the floor and at the children's level. * Must be able to pass a Colorado and Federal Bureau of Investigation background check. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: * Up to 2 years experience caring for and supervising children. * Knowledge and experience with young children 3-5 years of age with a variety of developmental levels.
