DESCRIPTION: To provide language support to school functions including translation and instruction. To provide support to teachers and students.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills required.
SALARY: Classified Grade D, $12.46 - $14.00 per hour, depending on recent relevant experience. 8 hours per day, Tuesday through Friday, 9 month work schedule, paid over 12 months. Position eligible for benefits.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide communication translation. Duties may include document translation, phone translation and meeting translation for staff and students.
Instruct and tutor small groups and individual students. Duties may include implementing intervention programs, following teacher developed lessons, assessing students, and providing feedback to teachers and families.
Handle and support student supervision (duty). Duties may include supervising students inside and outside in a variety of school related settings.
Provide clerical support. Duties may include copying, organizing, filing and grading document in a support of a program, a classroom or the office.
High School diploma or equivalent required.
Must be able to get along with others, be flexible to change, and willing to work with multiple grade levels and teachers.
Possess excellent communication skills with a demonstrated ability to communicate with school staff, students and parents.
Passion and desire to help students improve their literacy skills and other educational skills.
Bilingual (Spanish/English) skills required.
Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
Must be able to pass a post offer, pre-employment physical.
Must be able to pass a Colorado and Federal Bureau of Investigation background check.
No experience working with children or in a classroom required.
Ability to fluently speak, read, write, and translate in Spanish and English.
Basic math, accounting skills, customer service and public relations skills.
Good personal computer, keyboarding and work processing skills.
Excellent interpersonal relations, critical thinking, problem solving and organizational skills.
The ability to manage confidentiality in all aspects of the job, manage multiple priorities, manage multiple tasks with frequent interruptions, and ability to diffuse and manage volatile and stressful situations.
