Bilingual Immersion Teacher Assistant

Puente de Hózhó (PdH) Elementary School is a trilingual language school located in Flagstaff, Arizona and is a part of the Flagstaff Unified School District.
PdH is a "dual-language school" and is comprised of a Navajo Immersion Language Program and a Spanish-English Bilingual Program.
We serve students from Kindergarten through 5th-grade.
Position Title: Bilingual Immersion Teacher Assistant
Department/Section: Puente de Hozho
Supervisor: Principal
Hourly Rate: $18.00 - $18.75/hour (depending on experience)
Pay Grade: 21
Schedule: 29 hours/week (hours TBD); 9 month position; Non-Benefit eligible, Arizona State Retirement System eligible.

PdH is looking for a dedicated and dynamic Instructional Aide for both our Navajo/Dine Language Program and English Language Program. The successful candidate must be fluent in English and Dine; be a collaborative team member; have an unyielding belief in the potential of children.
SUMMARY OF FUNCTION:
Assist students and teacher/ teachers with language and skill development.
TYPICAL TASKS:
Monitor student activities such as test taking, classroom supports or student recreation
Assist in the instruction of students working individually, in small groups, or in the classroom
Assist teachers and students with love and care
Assess and record grades of assessments
Maintain records of students' progress and conference with classroom teacher on changes to lesson plans and/or methods of teaching.
Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
Specific training or job experience required before appointment
High school diploma or equivalent certification required.
Candidate must meet NCLB qualifications; NCLB = 60 post-secondary hours of college coursework or minimum of an AA Degree (or higher) or meet the minimum score required on an Arizona Department of Education approved test. (The FUSD Family Resource Center administers the Parapro test. Call 928.774-1103 for more information and to schedule a testing time.) In addition, please submit documentation showing how you meet the NCLB requirement (attach transcripts, copy of degree or copy of parapro assessment scores).
College coursework in education classes preferred
Experience working with children (caring nature also strongly considered).
