Family Dollar Distribution Center is seeking a highly motivated, bi-lingual F/T HR Generalist to join our HR Team in Odessa, TX! The main focus of the Human Resource Generalist will be attracting and onboarding highly talented and qualified individuals. The position also provides support to the HR Manager in a wide-range of HR activities and functions.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
Identify, assess and recruit a high volume of hourly talent to join our facility. Place employment ads, attend career fairs, build relationships with various staffing agencies, trade schools, colleges, and employment organizations.
Assist the HR Manager in the development and execution of department goals and objectives.
Track time and attendance for hourly employees.
Partner with employees to ensure their human resources needs are met.
Work collaboratively with employees to ensure the performance management process is administered in a consistent, constructive and productive manner.
Maintain personnel records and ensure compliance.
Maintain all HRIS systems (including ProWatch, Oracle, Kronos, Family Dollar University, etc.).
Conduct weekly new hire orientation.
Create and facilitate human resources training programs that enhance the skill sets of team members. Assess and identify individual or group training needs, and administer plans, procedures, and programs to meet needs.
Recommend new approaches, programs, and policies that contribute to the success of the business.
Maintain expert knowledge of federal and state employment law and ensure compliance within assigned groups.
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) or equivalent experience is required.
Two (2) or more years of progressive HR experience is required, preferably in a retail environment.
Spanish/English bilingual highly preferred
PHR Certification pref'd.
Microsoft Office Proficiency (Word, Excel, Outlook); Familiarity with Lawson and Kronos a plus.
Previous experience in recruitment, partnering with trade schools and employment organizations is preferred.
Effective presentation skills, strong written & verbal communication skills,
Excellent problem solving and decision making skills required.
Working knowledge of state and federal employment law is helpful.
Ability to effectively build relationships with business partners.
Excellent customer service skills.
Must be able to maintain confidentiality
