This job exists to: Enroll qualified patients into payment programs as expediently as possible, assist the billing department in establishing patients in payment programs and provide pro-active support to the medical team in creating a great customer experience for the patient.


  • Conduct financial screening and documentation gathering for patients to determine qualification for payment programs.

  • Compile and maintain necessary financial records for all payment programs.

  • Register patients into the Management Information/Automated Billing System and update any changes in patient status.

  • Maintain basic knowledge of various programs pertaining to Clinica reimbursement including but not limited to Medicaid, Medicare, CICP, CHP+, and third party payers.

  • Perform eligibility screenings, paperwork and follow up. Deliver Medicaid packets to Department of Social Services.

  • Verify insurance on a daily basis.

  • Complete and pass a biennial competency assessment.

  • Serve as support staff to front desk when necessary.

  • Maintain a safe work environment.

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.


A. Education / Experience

1.High school diploma or GED required.

2.One year experience within a medical facility preferred.

B. Knowledge, skills and abilities:

1.Fluent in written and spoken Spanish a must.

2.Knowledge of Management Information/Automated Billing systems preferred.

3.Ability to work under pressure with sensitivity to low income, ethnic minority community.

Compensation: Approximately $14.50-$18.50 per hour. All individual pay rates are calculated based on the candidate's experience and internal equity.

About You: As an Accounts Receivable Specialist, you possess a general understanding of accounting principles with at least 1 year of accounting training or experience and have a good understanding of the day-to-day functions of accounts receivable processes. You can communicate effectively and deliver results as required under direct supervision. What you will do in this role: * Perform Accounts Receivable (A/R) duties, including working with the Sales team, Housekeeping, Maintenance and Culinary Managers and Executive Directors * Enter billing changes into the accounting system * Generate monthly invoices * Make collection calls for past due accounts * Respond to resident billing inquiries and requests * Deposit cash to the bank, posting deposits to the general ledger, tracking census, providing A/R analysis and reconciling accounts receivable and revenue at the end of the month. * Perform other duties as assigned. You Have: * At least 1 year of AR accounting experience * Solid understanding of accounting fundamentals and principles * Excellent knowledge of relevant rules and regulations as well as quality standards * Strong work ethic, curiosity, flexibility and/or creative problem solving/process improvement * Computer skills with some knowledge in Yardi and Microsoft Windows Office Applications, including Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS: * Ability to with reasonable accommodations sit, stand, and/or walk for long periods of time * Ability to with reasonable accommodations bend, push and pull objects and lift and carry up to 50 pounds, unassisted * Must be able to work weekends/holidays as needed * Able to manipulate normal business machines such as computers and copiers * Balfour is a pet-friendly community; you may be exposed to animal hair and dander Health & Wellness Protocols: Until further notice, interviews will take place virtually.
