Position Overview:
The Client Services Specialist performs programmatic, administrative and logistical duties of a difficult nature involving considerable variety and complexity of assignments and requiring independent judgment in applying guidelines to assigned work tasks. This role is key to implementation of the day-to-day program activities and/or services for the dental programs of Harris County Public Health (HCPH). The Client Services Specialist is responsible for facilitating all tasks in accordance with all HCPH and Dental Program protocols. This role requires the adaptability to work in multiple capacities to ensure efficient operations for the clinics, mobile unit, community programs and school-based programs.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Provide preparation, set-up, and support for dental programs and events, encompassing patient registration, preparation, and event logistics.
Prepare and assemble supplies and documents required for dental events, maintain an inventory of dental resources, and ensure timely submission of requests for additional supplies.
Greet patients/participants upon arrival, coordinate patient registration, and ensure proper integration of all event/visit documents into the appropriate computer program.
Maintain an active, reliable presence at health fairs and other community venues, furnishing accurate information for community members seeking dental services within HCPH programs.
Conduct follow-up calls and communication with patients/participants and prospective individuals.
Answer telephone inquiries, screen calls to determine the nature and urgency of inquiries, refer calls as appropriate, and schedule appointments with dental clinical staff. Instruct patients as needed regarding further resources, confirm scheduled appointments, and update appointment status in Dentrix electronic records.
Prepare and utilize reports to ensure accuracy, support proper records documentation, and document patient and community encounters. Additionally, perform patient eligibility screening and verify insurance eligibility
Provide age-specific dental education to patients and participants. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements
Education:
High School diploma or GED equivalency
Health related technical field certification or Associate's degree
Experience:
Licensure:
Valid driver's license
Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers if required for certification or CPR
Language:
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
Ability to work well with public and staff members

Work Environment:
This job operates in both a clinical environment as well as in alternative community-based settings including mobile dental events in different locations throughout Harris County.
This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and scanners.
