We build systems to peer into the future and estimate the distribution of tens of millions of products every week to Amazon's warehouses in the most cost -effective way. The Amazon Capacity team does end-to-end capacity and topology planning and optimization for Amazon's FCs world wide.

This includes determining the number and placement of different types of Amazon facilities, and how they should be configured and connected. This also includes optimizing the allocation and utilization of Amazon's assets across various parts of its fulfilment network and business lines to enhance customer experience and free cash flow outcome. There are thousands of facilities ranging from million-square-foot Fulfillment Centers with thousands of robots down to inner-city Prime Now facilities fulfilling orders within hours.

We are looking for an experienced and technically skilled individual to join our analytics team as a Sr. Business Intelligence Engineer (BIE). Ideal candidate will be an analytical, results-oriented, self-motivated, and customer-focused Business Intelligence Engineer who will play a key role in enabling world-wide FC capacity and Topology planning using mathematical modeling, simulations, and data analysis. The role will also include analytical research studies as well as building critical data pipelines and analytics tools to improve efficiency and quality of strategic business decisions.

Key job responsibilities

In this role, you will be responsible for:

Defining, developing and maintaining critical business and operational metrocs reviewed on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis

Analysis of historical data to identify trends and support decision making, including written and verbal presentation of results and recommendations

Collaborating with software development teams and research scientists to implement analytics systems and data structures to support large-scale data analysis and delivery of machine learning and econometric models.

Identifying data needs and driving data quality improvement projects.

Thought leadership on data mining and analysis. Understanding the broad range of Amazon's data resources, which to use, how, and when. Mining and manipulating data from database tables, simulation results, and log files

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 7+ years of business intelligence and analytics experience

  • 5+ years of delivering results managing a business intelligence or analytics team, including employee development and performance management experience

  • Experience with SQL

  • Experience with ETL

  • Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools

  • Experience with R, Python, Weka, SAS, Matlab or other statistical/machine learning software

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4+ years of working with very large data warehousing environment experience
  • 10+ years of data warehouse technical architectures, data modeling, infrastructure components, ETL/ ELT and reporting/analytic tools and environments, data structures and hands-on SQL coding experience

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $114,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,100/year in our highest geographic market.

Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
