We are currently looking for Bid Manager to join the Thales InFlyt ExperienceTM team in Irvine, California.

The Bid Manager is responsible for the development of high quality winning proposals for prospective customers. This entails the management of a multi-disciplined proposal team through the bid development process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactively manage a multi-disciplined team in the timely development and submission of contract-winning bids and proposals

  • Working with the Sales Manager; develop and agree on a successful bid strategy for each bid/proposal. Convey this strategy to team members from all functional areas responsible for submitting costs and schedules in support of the bid

  • Define and gather all the requisite inputs from functional departments to support the generation of the bid and review and scrutinize those inputs to assure they are well-founded and that they accurately reflect the scope of work to be performed

  • Comply with established company processes and synthesize the bid/proposal for presentation to management for required approvals

  • Coordinate and present, with the help of the Sales Manager, the Gate 1 (Bid/No Bid) and Gate 2 (Submit/Do Not Submit) presentations to management

  • Maintain a close and professional working relationship between internal functional departments; promote an attitude of cooperation and solidarity in the responsible pursuit of new contracts and the expansion of our business

  • Proactively participate in identifying key barriers and risks to the attainment of the above listed primary objectives and formulate plans and actions to improve our overall effectiveness and performance in developing winning bids and proposals

  • The Bid Manager may be asked to participate in working groups to address bid process issues and other related proposal generation workshops aimed at improving the efficiency and quality of the bid development process

  • Support the Department's needs on any special projects as directed by Executive level management

Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university (Master's Degree (MBA) is preferred)
  • Eight to ten years of related sales or finance experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience

The Services Bid Manager is a key position in support of global customer service segment of the Inflight Entertainment and Connectivity product lines. This position will facilitate one of the fastest growing segments of our business by supporting Sales in the creation of compelling and competitive bids and proposals. It will help to drive order intake not only for existing products but also through the bid support of new product lines. It will also ensure the balance of competitive winning proposals and achievable program execution through robust costing. It will validate all aspect of the bid by internal stakeholders and senior management. Essential Duties and Responsibilities * Proactively manage a multi-disciplined team of stakeholders to facilitate the timely development and submission of multiple, concurrent contract- winning bids and proposals that include, among other items, compliance matrices, Services that include Training, Tech Pubs, Field Service Engineering, Ground Support Equipment, Onboard Maintenance, Spares and Repairs and Media Integration. This to be integrated into a Bid Control Documents (P&L) with associated Pricing and descriptive verbiage. * Work with the Sales Manager to develop and agree on a successful Service and Media pricing and product strategy for each bid/proposal. Communicate this strategy to Stakeholders from all functional areas responsible in the form of a kickoff meeting to facilitate the submittal of costs and schedules in support of the bid. * Define and gather all the requisite inputs from functional departments to support the generation of the Service and Media bid and review and scrutinize those inputs to assure they are well-founded and that they accurately reflect the scope of work to be performed while supporting the winning price strategy with acceptable margins. A key function of this role is to drive cost competitiveness by challenging stackholder inputs as needed where we identify cost gaps versus the competition. * Comply with established company processes and, while utilizing the appropriate Chorus 2.0 process level and related information systems, synthesize the bid/proposal for presentation to management for required approvals. * Coordinate and present, with the help of the sales manager and aligned with Chorus 2.0 process, the Gate 1 (Bid/No Bid) and Gate 2 (Submit/Do Not Submit) presentations to management. * Maintain a close and professional working relationship between all internal functional departments, the Sales team and any other BL's with whom we work; promote an attitude of cooperation and solidarity in the responsible pursuit of new Sales and the expansion of our business. * Proactively participate in identifying key barriers and risks to the attainment of the above listed primary objectives and formulate plans and actions to improve our overall effectiveness and performance in developing winning bids and proposals. * The Services Bid Manager may be asked to participate in working groups to address bid process issues and other related proposal generation workshops aimed at improving the efficiency and quality of the bid development process * Support the Department's needs on any special projects as directed by Executive level management. * The Service Bid Manager may from time to time be required to support customer sales meetings to better understand customer requirements which will need to be translated into commercial pricing quotations. Skills and Experience: * Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university (Master's Degree (MBA) is preferred) * Eight to ten years of related sales or finance experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience. * Experience in Aerospace/Airline Operations is desirable. * Excellent communication and analytical skills required. * Ability to effectively present information to customers, managers, exec teams * Ability to effectively manage multiple responsibilities so that critical issues are addressed in a timely manner * Strong Financial analysis and modelling experience is required. * Ability to read, analyze, and interpret written material, reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals * Proficient in use of computer with a good working knowledge of MS Office and Excel and PowerPoint in particular.
