Job Title: Business Intelligence Developer/Data Analyst

Location: Raleigh, NC

Type: Contract

Duration: 6+ Months


The Business Intelligence Developer/Data Analyst will work collaboratively with business users to perform healthcare data analysis to provide answers to complex operational challenges.



A business intelligence developer with deep experience in SQL and SAS coupled with significant expertise with health benefits management, healthcare data, and health insurance financials.

Gather business requirements, identify data needs and delivery mechanisms

perform data discovery and data mining across large healthcare datasets, including eligibility, medical and pharmacy claims, provider, and financial data

develop BI content (reports, dashboards, scorecards, analytic solutions)

present analytically complex results that are easily understand.


5+ years experience data analysis using healthcare claims, eligibility & enrollment, medical provider, and/ or financial data. Ideally in an insurance setting.

5+ years experience using SAS EG and Visual Analytics tools to develop reports and dashboards

5+ years experience using base and advanced SQL to extract and manipulate data

We can't wait for you to join us!</p><p>What It Means to be a Reingold Evaluation and Data Analyst Intern</p><p>Reingold is hiring a data analyst intern to support a portfolio of program evaluation projects at the intersection of health care and government, including for internal team trainings and change management efforts.</p><p>The Evaluation and Data Analyst intern will be expected to:</p><ul><li><p>Support the project team with various types of data analysis in Excel and other programs.</p></li><li><p>Support the project team with various day-to-day communications tasks, such as drafting materials for clients, conducting research, and notetaking.</p></li><li><p>Help document the business requirements for new dashboards and data reports.</p></li><li><p>Produce first drafts of reports, data visualizations, and documentation materials, and incorporate internal and external feedback as advised.</p></li><li><p>Support collaboration on data reports across a team of writers, account managers, technologists, and designers.</p></li><li><p>Help distill technical concepts into easy-to-understand language for unfamiliar audiences.</p></li><li><p>Shadow developers and analysts to learn how to translate requirements into technical solutions and to perform dashboard data refreshes (via export, transform, load processes).</p></li></ul><p>We're looking for interns with the following qualifications and skills:</p><ul><li><p>Proficiency in Excel, including nested formulas, power pivots, graphs, and slicers.</p></li><li><p>Ability to summarize and visualize data in Excel and PowerPoint graph tools.</p></li><li><p>Passion for using data and evaluation to measure impact.</p></li><li><p>Basic understanding of evaluation plans and performance metrics.</p></li><li><p>Comfort working with large data sets, including data cleaning and basic transformations.</p></li><li><p>Aptitude and passion for learning new technologies.</p></li><li><p>Ability to prioritize and complete work independently and efficiently.</p></li><li><p>Critical thinking skills, with a mindset for both the big picture and the small details.</p></li><li><p>Strong organizational skills, including a reputation for being extremely detail-oriented.</p></li><li><p>Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.</p></li><li><p>Entrepreneurial spirit and a positive attitude.</p></li><li><p>Capacity to thrive under pressure and to meet tight deadlines.</p></li><li><p>Bachelor's degree or in-progress undergraduate coursework.</p></li></ul><p>Bonus points for:</p><ul><li><p>Experience with Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, Google Data Studio, Blackboard, SharePoint, Access, Visio, SQL, Pyramid Analytics,, or Python.</p></li><li><p>Experience at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.</p></li><li><p>Experience interfacing with clients, customers, or stakeholders.</p></li><li><p>Experience maintaining and refreshing data dashboards.</p></li><li><p>Understanding of coding language and scripts (e.g., Python).</p></li><li><p>An interest in education or health care.</p></li></ul><p>Internships are full time (40 hours) during the standard workweek and pay an hourly rate of $20, hourly. The spring internship class begins on January 9th and runs through May 12th. Core hours during the internship are 9am to 5:30pm eastern.
