The BI Administrator III roles are to install, test, and support BI software (BI and ETL), systems, and hardware including integration with databases. Guide and advise BI developers.
Work at the highest functional level of BI system administration. Consider implications of the application of technology to the current and future business environment.
Monitor the health of the entire BI environment.
Manage the security of the BI environment.
Monitor all scheduled jobs (including reports for business users). Monitor and tune the performance of the entire BI environment.
Maintain the version control of all objects in the BI environments (development, test, stage, and production). Oversee the work for junior BI administrators on the team.
Troubleshoot issues with BI software and hardware. Participate in the On-Call process. The following qualifications are the minimum necessary to adequately perform this job. However, an approved equivalent combination of experience, education and training which provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities could be acceptable, subject to any licensure/certification/legal and/or regulatory requirements.
Education: Bachelor's degree required.
Experience: Minimum seven years' experience with Business Intelligence tool installation, administration, and performing software server upgrades required.
Additional skills required: Awareness of current and future trends in BI.
Ability to work under deadlines and heavy workloads. Capable of handling multiple tasks with minimal supervision. Possesses great organizational, communication, and analytical skills.
Able to work independently and flexibly. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Able to read and understand various data structures.
Advanced technical design skills. Thorough knowledge of data warehousing architectural approaches. Comprehensive knowledge of BI/ETL tool architectures, functions, and features.
Intensive knowledge of BI/ETL tool servers, security models, security auditing, systems performance management, operating systems, and networks. Working knowledge of advanced SQL statements. Strong problem-solving and metadata skills.
Additional skills preferred: Have knowledge of SAP Business Objects, IBM Cognos, SAS, Informatica, SSIS, and EPIC. Able to act in the BI Administrator Lead position as necessary.
