Job Summary

Job Description

  • Performs data entry into the national State Unintentional Drug Overdose Reporting System (SUDORS).

  • Abstracts data from death certificates, toxicology, autopsy, and coroner investigation reports into SUDORS in a timely manner using established protocols;

  • Works with the drug overdose surveillance teams to refine their fatal drug overdose data processing and ensure coordination in drug overdose data efforts;

  • Conducts SUDORS data quality assurance activities;

  • Conducts manual reviews of narrative fields within SUDORS as needed;

  • Assists in the completion of SUDORS closeout reports (e.g., case validation and quality control reports);

  • Uses project management platform to track timely delivery of project requirements and adherence to timelines;

  • Participates in monthly CDC calls and workgroups to facilitate timeliness and accuracy of grant deliverables and routine team calls with the Louisiana OD2A surveillance team;

  • Maintains working knowledge of all coding guidance and database changes; and

  • Follows data security and confidentiality procedures and protocols.

  • Other tasks as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's degree, or Associate's degree plus 3 years of professional experience, or 6 years of professional work experience.

  • Minimum 3 years professional experience performing administrative functions within an office environment or health care field.

  • Minimum 2 years professional experience in data abstraction, data entry, or a similar role.

  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills; effective organizational and time management skills.

  • Great attention to detail and follow up.

  • Ability to manage projects, assignments, and competing priorities.

  • Proficient in the use of Zoom, Teams, and Microsoft Office, including but not limited to Outlook, Word, and Excel.

DESIRED:

  • Advanced degree.

  • Minimum 4 years professional experience performing administrative functions within an office environment or health care field.

  • Minimum 3 years professional experience in data abstraction, data entry, or similar role.

  • Minimum 1 year professional experience using data analysis software and tools.

  • Relevant industry certifications.
