Overview

The Behavioral Health Outpatient Therapist provides clinical assessment, treatment, and related care management strategies of children, adolescents and families through culturally appropriate interactions and interventions across all professional and clinical settings. The Outpatient Therapist utilizes individual, group and family modalities within expected practice standards and as informed by the professional literature, including providing interventions at the outpatient site, either in person or via telehealth.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately assesses and documents client presenting problems, history, symptomology, mental status, diagnosis and prescribes initial interventions in a timely manner.• Meets with clients and families to assist in developing specific, realistic, and measurable treatment goals and objectives including striving to maintain positive patient satisfaction.• Employs strategies of intervention that are consistent with empirically supported treatments and consistent with program expectations.• Remains current in general knowledge of psychopharmacology in pediatric behavioral healthcare and collaborates consistently with team psychiatrist.• Completes clinical charting and other related administrative paperwork in accordance with policy standards and practices within professional areas of expertise.• Effectively coordinates client care with other service providers and community resources to assure continuity of care and meets regularly with Clinical Manager or designee.• Demonstrates willingness to seek and accept direct supervision, respects productive feedback and supports the philosophy, goals, and mission of Nationwide Children's Hospital.

Qualifications

Education Requirement: • Masters from an accredited university or professional school of Counseling, Social Work or Marriage and Family Therapy, required.Licensure Requirement: Current, appropriate Independent Ohio licensure, required.Skills• Demonstrated skills and abilities in providing and managing behavioral healthcare to children, adolescents, and families.• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to establish and maintain positive relationships.Experience:

Staff members hired into the MSW-Outpatient Social Worker position prior to May 2011 can be grandfathered into this position.The above list of duties is intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by individuals assigned to this classification.
