Overview

The Nationwide Children's Hospital Behavioral Health Clinical Lead Supervisor works in collaboration with the Clinical Coordinator, Program Manager and/or Clinical Coordinator to coordinate clinical services and related administrative activities on the multidisciplinary program to achieve the most effective, efficient, and culturally relevant service delivery to children and families. Further, the Supervisor is responsible for assisting with quality assurance, compliance, fiscal accountability, training, staff development, and customer and stakeholder relationships on behalf of the program team.

Demonstrates competencies defined () below in providing age appropriate care to pediatric and select adult patients.

1.Coordinates the clinical activities of program members to achieve the most effective, efficient and culturally competent service delivery to children and families.
2. *Facilitates the daily organization of call center resources to manage referral and phone volume as needed.
3.Recruits, hires and retains qualified clinical staff in collaboration with program management.
4.Coordinates and provides clinical supervision to team members in accordance with program needs and state regulations.
5.Assures staff and program compliance to quality assurance standards and identified quality indicators including competent and timely completion of diagnostic assessment, treatment planning, and outcome measures as well as other supportive documentation required for billing or clinical purposes or other external audits/reviews. Maintains department acceptable scores in reviews such as Readiness Rounds and Perceptions of Care.
6.Completes performance evaluations in collaboration with the Clinical Manager.
7.Initiates supportive and corrective disciplinary actions as per Administrative Personnel Guidelines in collaboration with the Clinical Manager/Clinical Director.
8.Maintains familiarity with the research literature in areas of expertise and supports research activities relevant to clinical services.
9.Identifies and responds to staff developmental needs through supervision, provision of formal and informal training, and approval of attendance at external and internal trainings and conferences.
10. Reviews and screens requests for client/program expenditures before seeking final authorization from the Clinical Manager/Clinical Director.
11. Provides direction and support to team members at clinical meetings, when deemed necessary.
12. Implements quality assurance initiatives that positively impact the operational efficiency and clinical accuracy of the behavioral health triage work flow.
13. Assists with maintaining program fiscal viability and productivity standards.
14. Responds to ongoing daily operational demands by maintaining adequate staffing levels and providing/coordinating on-call or back up for on-call crisis and urgent services.
15. Monitors and assesses practice patterns to ensure high level of clinical expertise and positive outcomes for children and families. Reports outcomes to management.
16. Meets regularly with the program staff and Clinical Manager/Clinical Director and attends departmental meetings at their request.
17. Monitors contract compliance with specific funders and/or payors and provides reports as requested by such payors.
18. Assists in the management of relationships with key funders and stakeholders.
19. Acts on behalf of the Clinical Manager/Clinical Director at their request.
20. Supports Behavioral Health guiding principles and the mission, vision and values of Nation Children's Hospital

.21. Completes other duties as assigned by the Clinical Manager/Clinical Director

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE , SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
1.Masters or doctoral degree from an accredited university or professional school.
2.Appropriate Ohio independent licensure with supervisor endorsement preferred. Strong independent licensure eligible applicants will be considered with expectation that independent licensure and any applicable supervisor endorsements will be obtained within agreed upon timeframe post hire.
3.Three or more years of experience as a provider of mental health or social services.
4.Demonstrated skills in providing assessment and treatment to children and adolescents.
5.Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to motivate and lead staff, as well as to represent the agency to stakeholders.

The SBAT Registered Nurse communicates with the Nurse Practitioner and school nurses regarding the current needs of students currently enrolled in the SBAT program. The SBAT Nurse assesses key needs, addresses local and systemic issues interfering with care, assists school nurses and families in setting appropriate goals, and tracks progress towards achieving those goals. The SBAT RN identifies high need students and activates the health care system on their behalf – this includes planning for care coordination and education, and providing for patient safety and quality care. The SBAT Nurse assists the Nurse Practitioner and Program Manager in collecting and processing data to show potential improvements in the enrolled patients. Fulfills RN role and responsibilities associated with the SBAT Evaluation Grant. Attends research team meetings, provides front-line perspective and updates on all aspects of the study including recruitment, data collection, recommendations to mitigate barriers and data analysis. Responsibilities 1) Implements interventions designed to improve health, care, and cost in the PFK population. 2) Coordinates with the school nurses and Nurse Practitioner to identify patients in need of the SBAT program. 3) Works closely with the SBAT Nurse Practitioner, school nurses, and families to maintain enrollment requirements for the SBAT Program, to answer questions and concerns, and to maintain processes to ensure school nurses and families have medication refills. 4) Works closely with the NCH Pharmacy to ensure timely medication refills for SBAT enrollees; coordinates medication distribution. 5) Expertly uses and serves as a resource for the nursing process, Standards of Care, clinical pathways, and clinic specific competencies, to: * a) Complete the appropriate health status assessment * b) Document a plan of care in the appropriate system, including appropriate goals set with input from physicians and family * c) Evaluate patient care and patient's response/progress * d) Reassess patients and revise plan of care as appropriate * e) Monitor patients' needs for preventive care and assists in arranging for those services * f) Anticipate patient needs regarding organizing services, additional needs, etc. * g) Plan, provide, delegate, motivate, and evaluate patient/family education as appropriate * h) Collaborate effectively with all health care disciplines to facilitate optimal patient and family health and full potential * i) Refer/connect/collaborate with SBAT Physician Lead, Nurse Practitioner & school nurses to assist in and provide resources for patients and families enrolled in the SBAT program. 6) Demonstrates awareness of and support for the principle of Family Centered Care. 7) Communicates patient care needs/expectations/priorities to SBAT Physician Lead and Nurse Practitioner. 8) Works closely with SBAT Nurse Practitioner and school nurses to collaboratively develop a work plan for a given student. 9) Effectively relates and interacts with patient, families, and health care team and serves as a role model for others. 10) Effectively coordinates SBAT Program enrolled students through one or more of the following: a) Communication with the school nurses to develop a continuous relationship. b) Communication with the Nurse Practitioner with needs to maintain enrollment. c) Communicate with Nurse Practitioner if any patient needs escalation of care. d) Other coordination activities 11) Maintains professional standards and serves as a role model by setting professional goals and participating in activities to meet goals. 12) Assists in research, quality improvement activities, data collection, data analysis, and special projects. 13) Participates in evidence based practice through application of policy, review of literature, and/or participation in nursing research. 14) Accepts and supports change in a positive manner. 15) Practices professional nursing in accordance with ANA Code of Ethics for Nursing. 16) Performs research activities as outlined in the protocol. 17 )Actively communicates research related updates to all staff within the SBAT program. Qualifications Knowledge, skills and abilities required * EDUCATION: Graduate of an approved school of nursing, BSN highly preferred. If hired after Jan 1, 2012, must successfully complete BSN in 5 years of start date * LICENSURE: Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio. * Three years pediatric clinical experience or equivalent combination of education/experience preferred. * Valid Ohio Driver License. * Demonstrates leadership, interpersonal skills, teaching ability, advanced level of critical thinking and decision making. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Minimum Physical Requirements Must be able to see, speak, read and perform manual tasks with or without accommodation, and care for oneself with little or no difficulty.
