BGS Maintenance Mechanic III

Overview

Buildings & General Service (BGS) at the State of Vermont has an exciting and unique opportunity with room for growth as a Maintenance Mechanic III within the Operations & Management Division

This position will be responsible for independent construction, structural maintenance, and repair of buildings, grounds, and utilities in the Springfield area. The Maintenance Mechanic must be able to estimate the cost of new construction and prepare reports and recommend improvements as well as manage projects as assigned.

This position is also the main contact for maintenance and custodial issues that may arise in assigned area of oversight. Some knowledge of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing is helpful.

Applicants must have considerable knowledge in the use of computers, email, internet, and maintenance related programs. This position requires a valid driver's license and/or own transportation for travel between work sites. A criminal record check and/or child abuse registry check are required for this position.

This is a full-time position, and the hours are Monday through Friday, 6:30am to 3:00pm.

As of July 14, 2024 the step 1 rate for pay grade 20 will be $22.49 per hour.
