Bulfinch Temporary Service is hiring a Pediatric Pallative Care NP to cover a leave of absence. This role is onsite at MGH M-F from 8am-5pm. Please note this is a temporary non benefitted position. If you are qualified and interested please apply now!

This is a temporary, full-time position from Sept 15, 2024 through March 31 2025. 40 hours/week. This includes a 2 week orientation from Sept 15-Sept 30.

Job Description:

Pediatric Supportive & Palliative Care at Mass General for Children (MGfC) supports children with chronic, life-threatening, or life-limiting illnesses and their families by enhancing their quality of life. Our team offers support to children with serious conditions and their families anywhere along their illness course, including families facing pregnancies complicated by genetic disorders or congenital malformations. We work with a child's primary and specialist teams to provide the best possible care. Our team aims to identify a family's goals and values, ease distressing symptoms, optimize quality of life, and improve communication between care teams and families. We also help families navigate the best treatment choices for them and their child.

The Pediatric Supportive & Palliative Care team's Nurse Practitioner provides direct care to pediatric patients with complex medical needs and lifespan limiting conditions and their families. The Nurse Practitioner will work within an interdisciplinary clinical team, and is responsible for diagnosing, prescribing, and providing follow-through for our patients and families.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

1.Provide direct care to pediatric palliative care patients both independently and in collaboration with the physician on service.

2.Perform physical examinations and record patient history during clinical encounters.

3.Document assessment of patient goals of care, prognostic awareness, and medical decision-making.

4.Perform a comprehensive symptom assessment and recommendations within scope of practice when indicated.

5.Recommend pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions and perform other therapeutic or corrective measures to treat illness and improve health status.

6.Collaborate with other health care providers who are caring for the patient and family.

7.Utilize advanced clinical knowledge to identify, prevent, or solve complex and/or recurrent patient care problems.

8.Maintain and practice in accordance with practitioner guidelines per state and hospital regulations.

9.Provide support and guidance to patient and health care team as helpful/appropriate.

Skills/Abilities/Competencies Required:

  • Knowledge of Epic preferred.

  • Strong interpersonal skills.

  • Strong verbal and written communication and collaboration skills.

Qualifications:

  • Professional licensure in Massachusetts with authorization to practice as an APRN required.

  • · Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience in pediatric palliative and hospice care. (inpatient preferred) and/or completion of a specialty fellowship

  • Current Federal DEA and MA Controlled Substance registration preferred.
