Duties
Promote positive behavior across the district while building capacity and problem-solving skills for staff, school teams and administrators. Ensure data is being analyzed to make changes in the CORE to best support all students. Promote seamless transitions between general education and special education programs, specifically the BEST program to minimize overidentification of students into the BEST program and ensure the least restrictive environment is at the forefront of decision making.
Oversee and supervise the BEST program by providing meeting support, observation/modeling, crisis support and professional development specific for the BEST program.
Provide professional development to special education staff based on need and programming- build skill-sets related to the most up-to-date behavior strategies and practices and updates related to special education law and follow-through of specific regulations.
Support teams with change of placement procedures (specific to BEST), and ensure communication between teams is positive and student-centered.
Ensure Tier 1 curriculum is being implemented in the classrooms and differentiated instruction is taking place.
Support Home Interventionist with home-school connections to families with students in the K-5 BEST program
Support program staff with behavior intervention, skill lessons and counseling for students, and the IEP process
Evaluation of BEST teaching assistants and certified staff
Assist in facilitating IEP meetings
Support teams with change of placement procedures (specific to BEST), and ensure communication between teams is positive and student-centered.
Assist in analyzing behavior data related to referrals (infinite campus referrals, Tier 2 & Tier 3 progress monitoring, etc) and determine a plan for further support, in addition to current discipline practices and use of restorative practices at the building level.
Support administrators in strengthening building-based systems and structures to promote positive behavior.
Provide professional development to buildings and teams related to behavior practices that can be implemented in the CORE and building wide. (Create a PD plan with other leaders that incorporates restorative practices, trauma-informed practices, mental health supports, SEL, etc).
Observation and consultation
Attend team meetings for students with significant behavior concerns to ensure decisions are rooted in data and we are progress-monitoring for each layer of support provided. PBIS district trainings with the district coaches
Collaborate and problem solve with Transportation
Assist in coordination with EOP for coverage/subs for meetings
Qualifications
Demonstrated competence in serving a culturally diverse population
Ability to travel to and enter the homes of families in the service area with Home Interventionist
Ability to communicate effectively with parents, students, staff and local agencies
Knowledge of PBIS concepts and structure
Knowledge of SEL standards and implementation
Knowledge of Trauma Sensitive classroom practices
Strong organizational skills
CPI certified, preferred
Strong Knowledge of Restraint Policies, Practices and Protocol
Background in special education or counseling preferred. (Minimum of 4 years).
Administration Licensure required
Salary/Benefits
$60,000-$85,000 based on experience
