The Bereavement Counselor will be working in our facility (either day or evening shift). The Bereavement Counselor is responsible for assisting the Director of Bereavement in training volunteers/interns, participating in educational programs and facilitating support groups for bereaved children, teens, and adults.

  • Plans and facilitates Bereavement Support Groups for children, teens, and adults.
  • Conducts intake interviews to appropriately place individuals in support groups.
  • Counsels and/or refers individuals to outside clinicians as appropriate.
  • Maintains client records for individuals and attends bereavement programs.
  • Conducts outreach to strengthen existing programs by building relationships with new (and existing) referral sources including hospitals, schools, and clinicians
  • Collaborates with Director of Bereavement and Bereavement Teams to coordinate Camp Campus events for bereaved children during the summer
  • Works within legal, ethical practice standards to his/her position as well as Calvarys Code of Conduct. Complies with appropriate policies and procedures and brings potential compliance matters to supervisor or compliance officer.


  • Masters degree in either counseling, social work or early childhood education required; Certification in Thanatology preferred.
  • Minimum of two years in related field.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Exhibits an ability and attitude relative to the spirit of caring and tradition at Calvary Hospital as required by specific job duties and functions.

To learn more, visit Our award winning sports-based youth development program is seeking dynamic individuals to serve as our Girls Basketball Head or Assistant Coaches for our middle school team, which competes as part of the Charter School Athletic League. The ideal candidate has experience coaching middle school-aged students, and has an understanding of basketball as a player and coach. Coaches are key members of the Athletics Health & Wellness team and ensure the continued excellence, growth and sustainability of DREAM's Athletics programs. RESPONSIBILITIES * Create and submit practice plans; * Facilitate 1-3 practices per week; * Lead logistics around athlete arrival and departure; * Drive engagement and recruitment of athletes onto the team; * Manage roster and game strategy on game day; * Supervise and manage team and individual behavior at all times using positive discipline techniques and proactive interventions to ensure the physical and emotional safety of all scholars; * Ensure that youth are physically safe around the supervision and transportation (when necessary); * Follow all COVID safety protocols put in place by the organization including sanitizing of equipment, spacial awareness, mask wearing, etc; * Make sure attendance is taken at all practices and games in response to CDC COVID guidelines; * Model sports-like behavior and maintain appropriate conduct towards players, umpires, and spectators; * Model and encourage positive youth behaviors and promote DREAM's mission, values and organizational policies to all staff, participants and stakeholders; * Other duties as required. QUALIFICATIONS * An understanding of basketball rules and regulations required; * Experience working with school-age children required; * Ability to uphold, promote, and model sport-based youth development principles; * 2+ years of coaching experience preferred; * Previous experience playing competitive basketball at the high school and/or college level preferred; * CPR/First Aid certification, a plus; * Excellent oral and written communication skills, organization skills and attention to detail; * A strong belief in the mission and values of DREAM, including the belief that all students can succeed, and a deep desire to make a difference in the lives of our students, families, and community. LOCATION Practices take place at 1991 Second Avenue, New York, NY Game locations vary throughout the borough of Manhattan with the potential for games later in the season to take place in any of the 5 boroughs. COMMITMENT The basketball season runs from January 3rd, 2022 through March 2022 Days and hours Practices: Approximately 2-3 days a week Schedule: 4:30PM - 5:45PM Additional hours vary according to scheduled games. Days + hours are tentative and subject to change.
