The Benefits Specialist is primarily responsible for administering company-wide health and welfare benefit programs and helping to develop a culture of employee wellness across the organization.
Administers benefit plans including maintenance of our benefits enrollment system, monthly bill processing and reconciliations, and monitors compliance of employee benefits programs with all legal requirements (COBRA, FMLA, etc.)
Coordinates and administers annual open enrollment process
Administers FMLA and Disability functions
Participates in new employee orientation and other training as required
Assists in the promotion and monitoring of the employee wellness program
Verifies the calculations of the monthly premiums statements for all group insurance polices
Consults with and advises employees on benefits related inquiries
Maintaining privacy of health related information in accordance with the health privacy regulations published in the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

Education/Experience: Bachelors Degree preferred. Minimum of three years related experience or work equivalency
Physical Demands: None.
Proficient in Microsoft Office - Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Knowledge of laws and regulations pertaining to group healthcare, including COBRA, Section 125, FMLA and HIPAA.
Experience with Lawson HRIS or other tier 1 ERP benefit systems preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to interact with all levels of personnel and vendors.
High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
Ability to work with confidential information in a professional manner.
Demonstration of sensitivity and understanding in dealing with employee issues.
Desire to learn.
