The Atlanta Community Food Bank is working to end hunger in our community with the food, people and big ideas needed so that no one worries where their next meal is coming from. Since 1979, we've been providing food for a growing network of nonprofit partners including food pantries, community kitchens, child care centers, night shelters and senior centers. We currently serve more than 600 partners in 29 counties across metro Atlanta and north Georgia.

About the Role:

The primary purpose of the Benefit Screener is to assist clients in submitting applications for public assistance programs at designated on and off site locations. As a benefits screener, you will also be responsible for submitting client documentation and recording client data. Through a partnership with the Department of Family and Children Services, our goal is to facilitate the application process for clients who may have limited access to transportation, have been historically underserved, or need general assistance with the application process.

What You'll Do:

Outreach

  • Performs benefit screening and application assistance for various State and Federal benefits programs

  • Represents clients as the authorized representative while applying for benefits as needed

  • Recommends community resources to clients in areas such as: food, clothing, housing, mental health and medical services.

  • Assists clients during on-site visits for assistance - escorting them while on premises

  • Represents the Food Bank with community members and partners as subject matter expert and attends community events

Case Management

  • Records client data into web based CRM

  • Periodically checks on status of applications and makes any necessary updates to CRM

  • Maintains knowledge concerning program policy information and changes, such as eligibility requirements, acceptable forms of verification, etc.

  • Monitors, tracks, and reports application progress and outcomes

  • Generates reports in order to accurately capture the number of applications submitted in a given time frame.

Customer Service

  • Maintains good rapport with partner agencies and clients

  • Answers questions via phone, voicemail and/or email about organization, public benefits and/or services including providing addresses, directions and other referral information

  • Interacts with a diverse group of people in a professional manner

What You'll Need:

Education/Certification

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience

Experience

  • Minimum of (1) year of related experience

  • Must be proficient in Google Apps and have experience using Google Sheets, or similar online CRM

  • Must have a valid Driver's License

Your Impact as A Health and Benefits Specialist (Innovation Team) Employer-sponsored health and welfare benefit programs form the foundation of the U.S. health care system. These programs have evolved over time as employers have attempted to manage the changing needs of employees, rising program costs, and the impact of new legislation while supporting their human resource and business strategies. Aon Health and Benefits actuaries and consultants work directly with our clients to develop short and longer-term health and welfare benefit strategies. This process involves strategic assessments of the health care market and key trends and the identification of new and innovative solutions to employer. The technical and analytical skills health & benefits consultants bring to this process are critical to our health & benefits consulting. Colleagues accepted onto the Health and Benefits Innovation Team will have the unique opportunity to rotate through the four pillars of subject matter expertise on the team over approximately two years: * Health Transformation: Helps clients develop strategies to help their employees improve their health and well-being * Absence Management: Helps clients understand their total cost of absence and develop strategies to reduce the incidence and duration of absence and improve worker productivity * Pharmacy: Helps clients develop innovative solutions to combat rapidly rising prescription drug costs and drive higher compliance and adherence rates with medications * Data Forensics and Intelligence: Collects and analyzes large volumes of data to identify targeted actions clients can take to reduce cost, improve outcomes and increase employee productivity At the end of the two year rotation, the colleague will move into a role on the Innovation Team or another area of the Practice based on the interest and capability of the colleague and the needs of the business. Health and Benefits Innovation Team Specialists are often involved with the following projects which support our clients' annual and ongoing health management need: Job Responsibilities: * Contributes to client reports/deliverables such as Request for Proposals (RFP,) preparing data for RFP release and entering RFP data into client management systems. Work with tools on RFP and related issues * Collects, analyzes, and prepares information to facilitate requirements of client requests and/or support the activities of assigned consultant. * Evaluation of plan design and costs relative to various measures and benchmarks reported to clients. * Gathers data and enter into summary spreadsheets.
