We are looking to hire a Benefits Manager to work closely with our Benefits Director to help take our benefits programs to the next level! As our Benefits Manager, you will work with our Benefits Director to manage the communication and service strategy for all employee benefits programs. You will design, develop and implement communication initiatives focused on employee benefits in order to enhance the employee experience, and ensure that our programs support our organization's strategic objectives.

Location

This position will be based out of Kiewit Plaza at 3555 Farnam Street, Omaha, NE. Our metropolitan area is home to over 900,000 people. Responsibilities

  • Develop a strong understanding and appreciation of the organization's business strategy, structure, culture, and objectives in order to develop and implement benefits programs and processes that are aligned with and sensitive to the organization's mission, values, and objectives.

  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; performance evaluations; determining compensation plans; managing schedules and time away, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing concerns and resolving problems.

  • Build out the processes to ensure the effective delivery of benefit programs to employees in a way that enhances employee experience and contributes to Kiewit's culture.

  • Lead employee education efforts to enhance the perceived value of benefits delivered to employees and partner with other key stakeholders in the benefits function to change employee perception of compensation and benefits to thinking about these elements as total rewards.

  • Identify connections and synergies across the organization and apply creativity and out of the box thinking, offering ideas on different approaches to resonate with shifting demographics, geographies, and needs of employees.

  • Research and implement a variety of communication channels including websites,

emails, text messaging and video conferencing.

  • Oversee and produce, from conception to completion, a broad array of benefits promotional and communication materials.

  • Streamline the communications processes between internal departments and promotes

collaboration.

  • Communicate changes in policies and procedures and ensure proper compliance.

  • Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations including, but not limited to, ERISA, COBRA, and HIPAA.

  • Evaluate current and future benefits vendors to ensure that they are the right partner for

Kiewit's needs.

  • Assist in the preparation of the annual departmental budget. Analyze and control department expenditures to conform to budgetary requirements.

  • Serve as subject matter expert in one or more of these areas: health insurance, disability and life insurance, retirement, wellness, and other related benefits plans.

  • Work with and participates in construction industry group meetings to enhance and stay abreast of new benefit programs and vendors that impact the industry.

  • Maintain active involvement with targeted professional, civic and charitable organizations to develop and nurture Kiewit's image.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Communications or related field strongly preferred.

  • 5+ years of increasing responsibility in Benefits, Human Resources, Employee Communications or related field strongly preferred.

  • 3+ years of experience managing multiple people strongly preferred.

  • Previous experience with global benefits and craft populations in the construction industry strongly preferred.

  • Experience managing benefits programs for an organization of at least 5,000-10,000 employees.

  • CPP, CBP, CEBS, GRP, GPHR certifications preferred.

  • Project management and implementation skills with the ability to formulate and pursue long-range plans and objectives to take ideas from conception to implementation

  • Ability to work effectively in an advisory/resource capacity with employees, officers,

directors, managers, and supervisors.

  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with diverse groups including coworkers, clients and various business contacts at various levels ranging from front-line employees to senior executives.

  • Strong interpersonal and written/oral communication skills to provide recommendations, work direction, evaluate employee performance and negotiate contracts and administrative agreements.

  • Understanding of best practices, trends, and issues in employee communications, using traditional and emerging platforms.

  • Experience crafting messages for multiple channels and audiences, with measurable

results.

  • Versed in issues of corporate culture, employee engagement, change management, organizational development, and continuous improvement.

  • Highly creative, capable of generating ideas that engage and interest multiple

audiences.

  • Adept at communicating in innovative ways and across a wide range of channels and mediums, including print, video, web and social media.

  • Required to maintain the confidential nature of all employees and privileged information used or observed in the course of performing job duties.

  • Ability to develop and build strong professional relationships.

  • Skill and proficiency with Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Strong research and project management skills.

  • Ability to organize, prioritize and handle multiple work assignments.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team setting.

  • Must be a self-starter who can initiate projects and move them forward.

Primary Functions * As directed by Director, Risk Management & Insurance, Senior Risk Managers, or Risk Manager to implement and administer approved risk management department and corporate policies and procedures. * To provide insurance and risk management support to the various Kiewit operating Districts and projects. Major Responsibilities * Provide project insurance bid reviews, insurance and bond requirements, pricing and other information necessary to assist the estimating group within a particular district for both sole work and sponsored joint ventures. * Assist in reviewing and determining casualty or property risks in the construction operations of Kiewit and recommend methods to eliminate, control, minimize, assume or insure those risks. * Provide support by participating in the selection of and negotiation with brokers and carriers, concerning coverages on behalf of Kiewit. * Manage and assist the job with the investigation and settlement of builders' risk, property and contractor's equipment claims. * Assist in the development and maintenance of an integrated corporate insurance program which will protect the financial position of Kiewit covering property & casualty risks. * Prepare clear and concise specifications for insurance renewals. * Obtain and provide certificates of insurance and/or binders to districts and job offices. * Obtain special insurance coverages such as builders' risk insurance, pollution liability, railroad protective liability, etc. required by contract to adequately insure our construction projects. * Assist in project contract review and negotiations as they relate to insurance and risk.
