This position will be based out of Kiewit Plaza at 3555 Farnam Street, Omaha, NE. Our metropolitan area is home to over 900,000 people. Develop a strong understanding and appreciation of the organization's business strategy, structure, culture, and objectives in order to develop and implement benefits programs and processes that are aligned with and sensitive to the organization's mission, values, and objectives.
Carry out supervisory responsibilities including interviewing, hiring and training employees, planning, assigning and directing work; performance evaluations; determining compensation plans; managing schedules and time away; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing concerns and resolving problems.
Work with management to develop, implement and maintain market competitive benefit and retirement programs to enhance the employee value proposition through recruitment and retention as well as meeting company business objectives and philosophy on a global basis.
Leverage employee and benchmarking data to inform the design and delivery of global benefits programs and to stay ahead of future workforce needs.
Keep internal stakeholders informed on industry trends and provide recommendations on how the benefits strategy can evolve to respond to a changing landscape while optimizing cost constraints.
Ensure all Kiewit employees understand and value their entire total rewards package.
Identify connections and synergies across the organization and apply creativity and out of the box thinking, offering ideas on different approaches to resonate with shifting demographics, geographies, and needs of employees.
Develop relationships with outside consultants to help lead the company in the design, implementation, communication, and administration of enterprise-wide employee benefit programs such as health insurance, disability and life insurance, retirement, wellness, and other related benefits plans.
Track plan costs and plan trends for analysis and discussion with management. Work with consultants and accounting to develop annual budgets.
Promote and support a culture of wellness that sets the standard for quality, effectiveness, and value. Use data to understand key focus areas for our population and to promote programs, tools, and resources for the employee population to improve health and reduce cost.
Support the due diligence team for potential acquisitions.
Oversee fringe benefit programs such as employee perks and voluntary benefits.
Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations including, ERISA, COBRA, and HIPAA.
Evaluate current and future benefits vendors to ensure that they are the right partner for Kiewit's needs.
Prepare an annual departmental budget. Analyze and control department expenditures to conform to budgetary requirements.
Serve as subject matter expert in one or more of these areas: health insurance, disability and life insurance, retirement, wellness, and other related benefits plans.
Work with and participate in construction industry group meetings to enhance and stay abreast of new benefit programs and vendors that impact the industry.
Maintain active involvement with targeted professional, civic and charitable organizations
to develop and nurture Kiewit's image.

Experience with global benefits and craft populations in the construction
industry strongly preferred.
Experience planning and directing benefits programs for an organization of at least 5,000-10,000 employees.
CPP, CBP, CEBS, GRP, GPHR certifications preferred.
Strong analytical skills to analyze and evaluate the effectiveness and cost of multiple compensation and benefits programs.
Project management and implementation skills with the ability to formulate and pursue long-range plans and objectives to take ideas from conception to implementation.
Ability to work effectively in an advisory/resource capacity with employees, officers,
directors, managers, and supervisors.
Ability to work and communicate effectively with diverse groups including coworkers, clients and various business contacts at various levels ranging from front-line employees to senior executives.
Strong interpersonal, negotiation and written/oral communication skills to provide recommendations, work direction, evaluate employee performance and negotiate contracts and administrative agreements.
Strong working knowledge and understanding of regulations governing compensation and employee benefits administration.
Ability to effectively transmit, receive and accurately interpret ideas, information and needs. Public speaking and presentation skills are required.
Required to maintain the confidential nature of all employees and privileged information used or observed in the course of performing job duties.
Ability to make mathematical calculations involving the use of formulas, equations and descriptive statistics.
Proficiency with Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Ability to organize, prioritize and handle multiple work assignments.
Ability to work effectively in a team setting.
Must be a self-starter who can initiate projects and move them forward.
