REMOTE POSITION - based in California

Full Time; Hours and Days vary as needed; Monday - Friday

Expected starting wage range is $25.79 - $31.87. Telecare applies geographic differentials to its pay ranges. The pay range assigned to this role will be based on the geographic location from which the role is performed. Starting pay is commensurate with relevant experience above the minimum requirements.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Benefits Coordinator is responsible for the administration of benefits plans including insurance plans, including medical, dental, flexible spending accounts, life insurance, COBRA, long term disability, retirement and ancillary benefits.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • HS Diploma or GED and three (3) years' experience in benefits administration, or the combination of education and related experience.

  • Experience in basic accounting and Intermediate Microsoft suites skills.

  • Ability to analyze data

  • Detailed oriented and demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks.

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

  • Ability to read, write and speak English is crucial.

  • Applicants must be fingerprinted and receive clearance from the Department of Justice.

  • A valid driver's license and proof of insurance is required.

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

  • All opportunities at Telecare are contingent upon successful completion and receipt of acceptable results of the applicable post-offer physical examination, 2-step PPD test for tuberculosis, acceptable criminal background clearances, excluded party sanctions, and degree or license verification. Position requires driving, a valid driver license, a motor vehicle clearance and proof of auto insurance is required at time of employment and must be maintained throughout employment. Additional regulatory, contractual or local requirements may apply.

Preferred:

  • Five (5) years' experience in benefits administration.

  • Associate or bachelor's degree.

  • Experience with UKG & ADP and systems administrator knowledge.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Demonstrate the Telecare mission, purpose, values and beliefs in everyday language and contact with the internal and external stakeholders.

  • Performs tasks correctly and according to policies and procedures.

  • Responds to incoming emails and calls based on the service level agreement.

  • Assist employees with enrollments.

  • Provides support for Open Enrollment events.

  • Review and approve new hire and qualifying life events enrollments on a weekly basis.

  • Collaborates with the Benefits Analyst to send communications to Office Coordinator and Human Resources Business Partner for exhausting LOA monthly benefits.

  • Collaborates with the Benefits Analyst to send monthly LOA termination of benefit notices.

  • Prepare weekly New York Life Evidence of Insurability Census spreadsheet.

  • Review weekly WEX COBRA & Health Spending Account (HSA) errors and update or make corrections.

  • Prepares and sends reminder notices to employees who have returned from LOA and calculates any missed deductions.

  • Ensures accurate payroll deductions for desired benefits or pay in lieu of benefits.

  • Ensures accurate taxable income for domestic partner benefits.

  • Discuss and resolve all benefit questions regarding eligibility and coverage with employees.

  • Process and maintain accurate COBRA enrollments, changes, terminations, and payments.

  • Collaborates with the Benefits team to coordinate annual open enrollment changes.

  • Performs audit status of employment, benefit tiers, deduction group.

  • Ensures proper enrollments to comply with child support orders.

  • Reviews and corrects Flexible Spending Account

  • Provides support to Benefits Analyst for New Hire Orientation benefits webinar.

  • Collaborates with Broker and carriers to resolve issues.

  • Conducts benefits audits.

  • Assists with HRIS changes and the related processes.

  • Assists the Benefits Manager and Director of Total Rewards with special projects.

  • Participates as a team member and provides input via reporting observations, concerns and asking appropriate questions.

  • Works cooperatively with Office Coordinators, HRBP's, HR Managers and Program Administrators and employees at all levels.

  • Cross trains with HRIS technicians and Benefits Coordinator

  • Demonstrates good judgement, decision making and initiative when performing tasks, understanding when to bring issues and solutions to the team and Benefits Manager.

  • Builds and maintains cooperative working relationships with the team and other stakeholders.

  • Completes and follows through with tasks and assignments, meeting deadlines.

  • Maintains current knowledge of Telecare and TLC benefit plans, benefits laws and trends.

Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted and/or changed at the discretion of management.

Position requires driving own personal vehicle for company business such as trainings, offsite meetings, etc.

SKILLS

  • Intermediate ability with Microsoft suite, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.

  • Excellent written and verbal English and communication skills

  • Excellent organization skills

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, bend, squat, kneel, twist, reach, lift and carry items weighing 25 pounds or less; drive, lift, and carry items overhead up to 10 pounds, do simple grasping occasionally, as well as sit frequently.
