The Benefits Coordinator is responsible for assisting with the administration of all faculty and staff benefits and retirement programs, including ensuring that all benefits premiums and retirement contributions are properly deducted through the payroll process, as well as ensuring that benefits enrollments are correct with the benefits carriers. In addition, this position assists faculty and staff with benefit and retirement related inquiries. The Benefits Coordinator will work closely with a third-party COBRA vendor, receive and process missed benefits premium payments from faculty and staff, and assist the Wellness Coordinator with employee wellness programming.
Processes and ensures the accuracy of all benefits enrollments in the benefits administration platform, BenefitFocus, and the ERP Banner system, including Racer Wellness Pledge participant incentives payments and penalty deductions.
Coordinates with Payroll to ensure benefit deduction processing by the established monthly and bi-weekly payroll deadlines.
Processes benefit selections into vendor systems and life status changes. Processes and audits benefit data, maintenance and analysis of spreadsheets and database files, including report preparation.
Assists third party COBRA administration vendor with eligibility, including new hires, status changes and separations.
Responds to benefit inquiries from current faculty, staff and new hires on plan provisions, benefits enrollments, status changes and other general inquiries.
Assists employees on leaves of absence with required benefit deductions, disability insurance questions and premium payment options.
Assists with employee communication and ensuring that accurate benefits information is on the BenefitFocus portal and HR Benefits website.
Assists with the annual open enrollment process, including coordination of the benefits quick guide, campus communications and individual faculty and staff meetings.
Assists with Racer Wellness programming and events.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education Requirements
Minimum Experience and Skill Requirements
Minimum of one year of experience in a Human Resources related field.
Willingness to work in a team and collaborative environment in Human Resources.
Strong organizational skills and analytical skills, as well as excellent oral and written communication skills.
Qualitative analysis skills and the ability to facilitate and work collaboratively across the campus community.
Proven track record of initiative, integrity, and ability to manage confidential information.
Demonstrated skills in oral and written communications as well as good interpersonal and organizational skills.
